General Hospital’s Laura Wright Confirms New Soap Role — and Wait Until You See Who Her Castmates Are!

Daytime fans will be able to watch more drama unfold on the big screen, as a new soapy comedy is in the works, one that will have a few of your current faves popping up in David Duchovny’s Soapbox. Our sister site, Deadline, got the exclusive details last month… The X-Files alum co-wrote the flick and will take the lead as an aging soap star who finds himself trapped in the middle of the absurdities of life’s current culture wars.
Not only will viewers get to see faces such as Duchovny’s daughter West, Laverne Cox, Randall Park, Jimmi Simpson and Dirty Dancing’s Jennifer Grey, Days of Our Lives’ Christopher Sean (ex-Paul), All My Children alum and soap-hopper Vincent Irizarry (David) and General Hospital’s Laura Wright (Carly) will be making appearances in the movie as well.
This week, Irizarry posted a bunch of photos from the set, including one with Sean, and shared, “It’s been a crazy, wild, fun several weeks shooting the comedic film Soapbox opposite David Duchovny, under the fantastic direction of Andrew Jay Cohen.” He talked about what a joy it was to work with “a stellar cast” and stated, “I guarantee, you’ve never seen David quite like this before! Take that from someone who got to see him up close and personal, (I’m embarrassed to say, a little more so than I ever would’ve imagined ),” then added, “Check it out once it’s released. It promises to entertain you, for sure.”
As for Wright, she confirmed her casting with a couple of winky winks on X and teased, “Someone else may have a cameo in this movie as well.”
Production began in early March so stay tuned for the feature’s release date as details are announced.
