General Hospital Preview: R.I.P., [Spoiler]? Sonny’s Plot to Murder Sidwell May Well Make a Victim of the *Last* Person He Wants Dead

General Hospital mobster Sonny thinks he’s come up with a foolproof plan to rid Port Charles of Sidwell once and for all: Give him the ol’ Cates treatment. But you know what they say about even the best-laid plans — they sometimes go awry. So the character who winds up being sent to the morgue may not be at all the one that the dimpled don intends to kill!
Who’s In the Line of Fire?
In Sonny’s line of work, when someone becomes a problem, the solution is always the same: Ya send ’em swimming with the fishes. Problem solved. But headwriters Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten recently made a remark that suggested Jenz wouldn’t be made to pay the piper but someone much nearer and dearer to the godfather of Port Charles.
Over the summer, “Sonny and Sidwell enter a final battle,” they tell Soap Opera Digest, “with several lives on the line, Turner’s included.”
Why Single Out Justine?
Ruh-roh. The fact that the scribes make it a point to suggest that Justine is in danger has us thinking that she’ll be latest character to go from Sonny’s bedroom to the grave. Aside from Carly, his lovers do have a tendency to meet unfortunate ends.
Let’s see. First wife Lily? Sam? Dead. Dead. Claudia? Dead. Emily? Dead. Reese? Dead. Connie? Dead. A kiss from Sonny is almost as good as the kiss of death. Sure, some of his love interests have managed to make “Staying Alive” their theme song. But the likes of Carly and Alexis have strong ties to the canvas. Justine? Not so much.
As much as we adore Nazneen Contractor, the acting D.A. has been turned into just another law enforcer who is willing to turn a blind eye to Sonny’s life of crime to keep him in her life. We wouldn’t be surprised if, with Serena Baldwin having been recast and returned to Port Charles, her dad Scotty didn’t step back into the spotlight as D.A. following Turner’s untimely demise.
