Young & Restless Blow-Up: Who Dies as Matt Sends the Newmans Up in Flames?
No one can ever say that The Young and the Restless’ Matt isn’t willing to go the distance with his revenge plots. In the April 28 episode (recapped here), the erstwhile Mitch Bacall blows up the gas station from hell — and with it, perhaps Nick, Adam, Sharon and Noah!
A Dire Situation, a Desperate Plea
As Noah pointed out, he, his parents and uncle were sitting ducks in the gas station. But with Nick struggling, having gotten a bad batch of fentanyl, it was looking unlikely that they’d be getting out anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Sienna was doing her damnedest to convince her estranged husband to let the Newmans go and get back together with her. But of course, he wasn’t buying what she was selling — like, at all. So he hit the “kaboom” button on his detonator, and up in flames the gas station went!
Would Young & Restless Really Kill Off a Newman?
Mind you, the show is about as likely to reduce Nick, Adam, Sharon or Noah to ashes as it is to go a week without somebody gaining or losing a corporation. Nick is a core Newman, and portrayer Joshua Morrow has often expressed his delight in having a steady job that affords him a regular schedule.
Young & Restless has already “killed off” Mark Grossman’s Adam a couple of times. To do so again would be beyond redundant. (Then again, Victor trouncing Jack time and again is redundant, too, and the show certainly doesn’t mind doing that.)
Sharon Case’s Sharon has ties to too many characters to be dispatched. She’s everything from Aria’s grandmother to Victor’s ex-wife to Billy’s onetime bedmate. Plus, she’s the only individual in Genoa City who is not only a tycoon but also a therapist and a barista!
As for Noah, the powers that be just recast the role with Lucas Adams. They wouldn’t bring the character back just to send him to the grave. On top of that, there have been heavy hints that at last Noah’s past (and future?) with Audra is going to be explored.
So What’s the Upshot?
When the smoke clears, we can kinda all predict what will happen, right? The Newmans will be covered in soot, Matt will be apprehended and sent to the clink till Young & Restless needs its next psycho-of-the-week, and we’ll go back to business as usual. Just like since losing his empire, Victor’s life doesn’t seem to have changed one iota. He’s still the richest man in town as well as the guy you call when you need a miraculous assist fast.
Unless you’re on his [bleep] list, that is!
