Sophia Haunts Kristen, Who Faces EJ’s Wrath — and Theo Makes an Emotional Admission to Marlena About Lexie

When Marlena visits Johnny in the hospital, he confides that Chanel might have breast cancer. She offers supportive words, but Johnny remains emotional. He also reels over Sophia taking her own life. He dreads the day he’ll have to tell Trey about his birth mother, but he’s relieved she’ll never be able to hurt his family again.
In the hospital lobby, Chad finds EJ, who has been there all night. He shows no remorse over Sophia’s presumed death since she almost killed Johnny. Chad calls him out on his callousness. EJ assumes his brother is just upset, believing he had Abigail in the pod. Chad assures him that Theo helped him see that wasn’t true, which makes EJ twitchy.
Doubts Creep In
After specifically leaving Kate at the Pub, Roman heads for the hospital. Running into Marlena, he shows support for his wife, but when he visits his grandson, he changes his tune. Considering her underhanded past, he’s not so sure Kate didn’t set up Johnny.
Moving on to other topics, Roman offers Johnny and his family a place to stay at the pub, considering the fire damage to his place. Unless EJ already offered him a wing, of course. Johnny says he hasn’t, probably because EJ knows Chanel would never want to live there again. Yes, that must be it, Roman agrees. Johnny also relays that he might be out as DiMera CEO when a disapproving Tony returns for the reading of Stefano’s will.
Longing and Regret
Theo meets with Cat in the Square about the will reading. Cat is happy to continue to help now that he’s taken over from EJ as executor. Especially since she can ask probing questions, which unfortunately don’t produce any answers. Theo has one for her: why is she planning on being at the reading? It’s above and beyond as EJ’s assistant. She replies that EJ has been good to her despite what she did to their family. Theo assures her that pretending to be Chad’s dead wife barely registers on the list of evil DiMera deeds.
Theo leaves for a therapy appointment with Marlena, where he worries about what his mother will be like should she wake up. But also, what if she’s supposed to be with God and not pulled back into a world where everyone has moved on without her? Tearing up, he admits that part of him wishes that EJ wasn’t trying to bring his mother back.
Meanwhile, Cat shares a longing look with Chad across the square. She turns to leave, but he stops her, assuring her she can always say hi. As they catch up, Chad asks if anything new and exciting happened while he was away. She flashes to kissing EJ and says, “Nope.” After more semi-awkward banter, Cat wistfully watches him stroll away.
EJ’s on to Kristen
In the DiMera living room, EJ wakes Kristen up from a nightmare about Sophia (that lasts half the episode). In it, the bloody teen returns from the river, threatening to expose Kristen to EJ for trying to kill Johnny. EJ tells his sister he heard her say, “Goodbye, Sophia,” in her sleep.
Kristen tries to cover, but EJ doesn’t buy her act. He asks if, in her nightmare, was Sophia killing Johnny? Or was she telling anyone who would listen that Kristen put her up to it? Perhaps this was Kristen’s sick and twisted way of paying him back for what she saw as his sacrificing Rachel to save Johnny. With a menacing smile, he warns that if anything else should happen to his son, he’ll know who was responsible. And that treacherous psychopath will be dealt with — the DiMera way.
Next on Days of Our Lives, Alex and Justin bond over fatherhood, and Roman demands the truth from Kate.
