Salem Rings In the New Year as Dimitri Tells a Shocked Leo What Happened — and Knows Exactly Who’s to Blame

Leo and Javi are stopped dead in their tracks by Dimitri, while Gwen smiles away in the background. She waltzes over to greet her “erstwhile husband” as Leo demands answers.
What Happened to Dimitri?
Dimitri was kidnapped after getting out of prison and shipped off to Alamania, away from “the man I love.” It’s Leo. He’s talking about Leo. He says he wrote his farewell to Leo with a literal gun to his head. He never saw who was behind it, but… “I have a pretty good idea.” Cue everyone looking at Gwen.
Gasp. Gwen?? Perish the thought! She lays the innocent act on thick as Leo comes to grips with the reality that Dimitri never stopped loving him. “But I’ve moved on. I’m in love with somebody else now.” You mean your husband, Leo? He finally gets that out to Dimitri, who just doesn’t seem to have gotten context clues, what with the whole wedding setup there.
Is Gwen Behind This?
Dimitri insists he just got sent there and headed straight for the Salem Inn, no idea about the wedding. He’s sure Gwen arranged it all to unfold. Big same. His flight was delayed by turbulence, but if it hadn’t been, he would have showed up mid-wedding.
Javi insists Leo has to deal with how he feels about Dimitri. OK, being upset is one thing, but he seems angry at Leo. He’s going to ask Marlena not to file the marriage certificate yet. “You need to figure this out without me.” And he storms off.
Gwen’s face is the definition of smug as Leo rails at them both, then runs off, too. But Dimitri knows this is all on her and he’s going to prove it. And make her pay. That actually seems to shake her a bit.
Is Jeremy Going to Leave?
Jeremy and Julie ring in the New Year with Scrabble and her telling him he’s a good man. Jeremy points out that most people don’t think so and then his temper flares up again talking over the Stephanie stalker letters and he snaps at Julie. (Not doing yourself any favors, bud.)
He thinks coming back was a mistake, so he might pack up and leave when his substitute gig is up. Julie gets all emotional, because she’s not ready for him to leave. But he needs to do what’s right for him.
Sarah and Brady’s Beginnings?
Sarah finds Brady in his room, hard at work, so she closes his laptop and tells him they’re celebrating together… with popcorn and sparkling grape juice! They both get all bashful and shy as they talk it over, but before they head down, Sarah insists they need to talk about the kiss. Brady seems to want to do it again, but Maggie interrupts — to tell them she’s going to bed.
They awkwardly invite her down with them, but Maggie knows exactly what’s going on and sees herself off to bed.
Holly Surprises Tate
Tate’s all alone playing video games when Holly shows up at his door a day before he expected her! There’s a big snowstorm in Paris, so she left early. Because why would you want to spend time in a beautiful, snow-covered Paris wonderland when you could hang out in the Horton Town Square? (No offense, Tom and Alice.)
They catch up from Jude to the Louvre (guess it didn’t get robbed in their world) and then chat a bit about Rachel and the wacky DiMera crypt shenanigans. The small talk done, they establish that no one else is home and ring in the New Year with a bang. Of sorts.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Julie and Jeremy celebrate the big moment, hoping 2026 will be a good year for everyone. Brady and Sarah don’t make it downstairs in time, so they just kiss in his room. And keep kissing. Tate and Holly wish each other a happy new year and make out some more.
And Javi’s hyperventilating by himself in the park as the fireworks go off above him. He breaks down sobbing, while Leo gets up to their wedding night room, flower petals in the shape of a heart on the bed.
