At the Club, Nate greets Stephanie, who tells him Malcom is doing exceptionally well. She’s back to support Holden, who is still processing the bombshell she dropped on him. She’s worried it hasn’t truly hit him yet.

Sitting, Stephanie confesses to Nate that she hopes Malcolm will stick around to get to know Holden. Nate suggests she stay too and confesses that he put her name in the running for Chief of Staff at Genoa City Memorial.

Stephanie learns that Nate was offered the position and turned them down. He’s happy at Winters and thinks Stephanie would be great. After exchanging compliments, Stephanie hedges that she may not be opposed to the opportunity.

You Mad, Bro?

At Crimson Lights, Holden updates Lily and Devon on his visit with Malcolm, who may be released before too long. Devon silently judges/fumes as Lily and Holden make plans to go back to New York and joke about Malcolm.

Lily steps away to take a call and Holden tries chatting with Devon, who makes it clear he’s protective of their sister. He hopes Holden won’t try to use this situation to his advantage, and adds that he seems like an opportunist. Holden gathers he’ll have to prove himself to Devon, who warns that the Winters are not his meal ticket.

Holden reassures Devon about his intentions. He can appreciate him being upfront, but he wants nothing from him. Lily reappears and asks if everything is OK. Holden says they were just discussing the importance of family and walks off.

Lily confronts Devon about giving Holden a hard time and suggests he should have a little compassion. Devon thinks she gives it to people who don’t deserve it. Lily tells him to stop lashing out at people in the name of protecting her. She’s starting to think he doesn’t trust her

Everybody Has Secrets

At Society, Clarie updates Victoria on Malcolm and her trip to New York. Her mother asks if she and Holden are more than friends. Claire acknowledges that, adding that she’s not ready for anything too serious. Victoria asks if she trusts him. Has he told her his secret?

Claire doesn’t think it’s as nefarious as she thought and wants to let it go. Everybody has secrets. Talk turns to Holden being vulnerable over the Malcolm reveal. She can relate and it made their connection stronger. She can see their relationship progressing when the time is right.

Holden arrives and Victoria makes nice with him before leaving. Claire and Holden embrace and she asks if something has happened. Holden shrugs; it was something he was expecting.

Intervention

At the Club, Phyllis tells Nick she thinks the change in him is due to the drugs. Unsurprisingly, he denies it. He’s grateful that she saved his life, but that doesn’t change the fact that she stole their company. Phyllis didn’t save his life to be let off the hook, she did it because it was him. Nick levels, “If you do not give my family the company back, you are going to prison.”

Michael comes upon Phyllis and Nick and intervenes to ask how the Newman is doing after his overdose. Nick crabs at Phyllis for telling Lauren and warns she has until the end of the day to make up her mind.

Baldwin senses Phyllis needs legal advice. She says he’s threatening to lie to the police that she knew she was harboring a fugitive. Nick says they want their company back. The other charges will be dropped. Michael points out that’s Christine’s choice to make and Nick would have to implicate his father to get the case dropped. Nick suggests Phyllis make the right call and exits.

Oops

At the new Shadow Room, Sienna marvels over Noah recreating it so she could make it her own, but gently explains that it’s tainted now. Noah kicks himself for not realizing this. Sienna thinks the priority should be figuring out what’s happening with Matt.

They recap how shocking Matt’s reaction to his memories was and Noah says he put on quite a show. Sienna believes it was real… she actually felt sorry for him.

Has Hell Frozen Over?

At the ranch, Victor questions Nick about seeking treatment but he just wants to know what the deal is with Matt. Victor says he’s very remorseful and will do anything to avoid future punishment. Nick asks, “Are you buying this?” The Mustache replies, “Good question.”

Victor declares that only time will tell if Matt is faking his remorse. They can’t underestimate him. Victor doesn’t know how to proceed (say wuut? Has this ever happened before?!). Nick reveals that he offered to hand Matt over to Christine if she drops the charges against Phyllis. He does not want to see her go to prison.

Victor still wants Newman back. Nick explains he gave Phyllis an ultimatum. He’s willing to implicate her if she doesn’t come to her senses. If she does the right thing, he’ll prove to Christine that the incriminating emails are fake. Victor raises an eyebrow, “Why would you do that?”

No-Win

Back at the Club, Phyllis rants to Michael that she saved Nick’s life and he got Matt, yet he still wants her arrested! She huffs, “When is it going to end?” Michael thinks they both know the answer to that.

After recapping the saving of Nick for a little longer, Michael warns it still won’t sway Victor. He tells Phyllis she’s in a no-win situation and the Newmans have no intention of stopping. “It’s time to move on,” he declares.

The Final Scenes

At the Club, Stephanie tells Nate she is intrigued by the idea of being closer to Holden. She’s eroded his trust and would welcome the opportunity to repair that.

At Society, Holden tells Claire that Devon doesn’t trust him because of the way he came to town. Claire reminds him that her first impression was far worse than his. She’s hopeful Devon will come around. Holden will show the Winters family he’s worthy of being included, but he has his work cut out for him.

At Crimson Lights, Devon lectures Lily about her skewed judgement when it comes to the likes of Holden and Cane. Lily asks if he wants her to be mad for the rest of her life like he has been lately. He asks what she means by that. Lily exclaims, “You’re mad at the world!” Finally, someone said it!

At the ranch, Nick and Victor debate about letting Phyllis off the hook. They can’t admit the emails were fake. Nick shrugs that Christine probably won’t even care. Victor argues, “Of course, she’ll care!” Switching gears, the Mustache asks Nick if he feels Matt Clark should be punished (is this a real question?!). Somehow, after all the vile things Matt Clark has perpetrated on his loved ones, Nick’s repsonse is, “I don’t even know at this point.”

At the Club bar, Phyllis tells Michael the Newmans resent her because she beat them at their own game. She can’t even enjoy it because they’ve been so relentless. Michael asks if she’s ready to let go and give it all back. Phyllis nods. She’s realizing that’s possibly the only option she has left.
