New Triangle Alert: Young & Restless Just Teased a Shocking Romantic Twist We *Never* Saw Coming Coming — But Perhaps Should Have

Wedded bliss can’t last forever in Genoa City, as one of Young & Restless’ happiest little families is about to find out firsthand. What’s more, the daytime drama just teased the onset of a new love triangle amid the developing marital strife… and it’s sure to give longtime viewers the blast from the past they love.

Young & Restless star Bryton James teased trouble for Devon and Abby back in November, and while we were keeping one eye on dashing Detective Burrow, sparks failed to fly between him and Abby, who was glued to her husband’s side throughout the kidnapping and ensuing rescue of their son.

The very-marrieds were on the same page about seemingly everything… until Devon found out that a judge had accepted a plea deal for Mariah that excluded prison time. Now, he and Abby were both irked about not being consulted, but Winters has become increasingly aggravated over the idea that Dom’s surrogate won’t be serving time behind bars. So fired up is he over the plea deal that he’s been threatening to have officials canned and is actively contesting it.

Abby’s so taken aback by Devon’s fervor for punishing Mariah that she flat out told him she “doesn’t even know who he is right now,” and accused him of trying to kick up a stink so foul that it will send Mariah into another downward spiral. What’s more, she’s actively avoiding her husband, and when he finally cornered her, their conversation went so badly that he stormed off.

This is where the twist we never saw coming entered the picture. When Devon swanned off in a fit of temper, who happened along but Abby’s ex-lover, Daniel Romalotti. How conveeeenient.

Our soapy senses were immediately on high alert. We definitely didn’t have an Abby and Daniel do-over on our 2026 bingo cards, but perhaps we should have given that she and Devon seem headed for big trouble and Daniel has just broken things off with Tessa. Not to mention the writers have a penchant for revisiting the past.

Nothing happens without a reason on Young & Restless, and the scene between Daniel and Abby could have been laying the groundwork for a new love triangle with the ex-lovers and her current husband. How intrigued are we by the idea? Well, there’s a different actress playing Abby now, but back in her Naked Heiress days, she and Daniel were pretty cute together!
