Meet the Days of Our Lives Newcomer Who Can Explain the Arsenic, the Pills, Holly’s Illness and All of EJ’s Coverup!

We get it: This tainted pill story on Days of Our Lives can be a bit confusing. What happened two years ago? What does it mean for Destiny? Why were the pills buried on Smith Island? How is this making Holly sick? While we wrote a little explainer about the arsenic and Holly (a shady corporation disposing of this kind of thing by burying it is, horrifyingly, not far-fetched), even EJ’s been a bit caught off-guard with the twists and turns.
He just overheard Sarah and Brady talking about Holly getting sick on Smith Island on Friday. And the day before, he just learned from Rita that George O’Halloran, the head of DiMera Pharmaceuticals, buried the company’s batch of arsenic tainted pills on Smith Island — where the Horton Cabin is situated!
And now that we’ve got spoilers for next week, it looks like we’re going to start getting answers directly as, on Thursday, July 2, EJ discovers something has gone wrong on Smith Island and we’ll be meeting the mysterious George O’Halloran himself, portrayed by Michael Rose! That was a fast turnaround as we’d never even heard of George before this past Thursday.
But if anyone has answers, it’s him. He’s the one who can explain why he buried the pills where he did. And we’re guessing he’ll know how they came to poison Holly. (Our guess is still that it got into the island’s water supply.)
The question is, though, will EJ be able to keep in front of this before it blows up in his face? If George tells him something dire happened at Smith Island, that’s going to be tough.
And it’s even tougher with Brady, Sarah and Xander all digging into what DiMera did, as well. By Monday, EJ’s telling Johnny about some “troubling secret,” which we’re going to guess will involve him spinning what happened with the Coriseal in a way to distance himself from the blame.
