Hayley Slips Bill Another Dose — Plus, Leslie Crashes Jacob’s Big Day
It’s the day on which Jacob’s involvement in bringing down at least part of the blood ring is going to be acknowledged at the police station. Jacob doesn’t feel worthy of celebrating, but Elon — and even Marcel — talk to him about the importance of the job and the pain of occasionally losing people.
Naomi talks to her mom, saying she’s not sure she can deal with Jacob doing more undercover work. “I didn’t sign up for this,” she says, having married a guy she thought would have a desk job with low risks.
Smitty finds Kat at Uptown listening to true crime podcasts and learns she’s considering starting one of her own. The topic? Lynette’s disappearance, and she wants him to be a guest! Instead, he lectures her on the fact that crime solving isn’t a game and should be left to the professionals.
Leslie Crashes the Party
Darlene wants to throw a dinner to celebrate Jacob. When she makes it clear to Izaiah that Eva’s not welcome, he says he won’t be showing up, either. When Darlene suggests Eva is “just passing through,” Izaiah warns that if he’s made to choose between his mom and Eva, Darlene won’t like how things go!
Despite this warning, when it comes time for pictures, Darlene quickly hustles Eva out of all but one shot. (She goes to delete even that, but Izaiah stops her.) Darlene eventually apologizes to Eva (even if, as Izaiah later points out, she nearly chokes on the words). When the ceremony begins, Jacob is lost in memories of how things went south, phantom gunshots echoing in his head.
Once the brief ceremony has wrapped, everyone begins enjoying Darlene‘s world famous cake… which is when Leslie, of course, arrives. She and Darlene exchange barbs, with Jacob’s mom suggesting Eva’s mom “mess around and find out.” For her part, Leslie threatens to rip the “Predator tentacles” off her rival’s head. (IYKYK) Meanwhile, Jacob slips out, running into Kat at Uptown and saying he wants to drown out the sound of the gunfire that killed his best friend. “How many drinks do you think that will take?”
Hayley Doses Bill Again
Sitting at the club waiting for a table, Bill goes to give his wife a loving squeeze and she freaks out. Why? He comes close to where she’s got her vial of poison stashed (aka her bosum)! She explains pulling away by saying she didn’t want the staff to see her hubby “copping a feel,” leaving Bill to feel guilty as he remembers his conversation with Dani.
Dani texts to find out why Bill isn’t attending the ceremony to support Jacob and Naomi. Hayley admits to her hubby that she intercepted the message and declined on their behalf. Though not thrilled, Bill asks that his wife not do anything similar moving forward. When he steps away, she slips more poison into his coffee cup.
