Gwen Makes Her Move Against a *Furious* EJ and Xander’s There for Sarah When the Unthinkable Happens

The Carvers are enjoying dessert, when Lexie tries sending the boys out for some fun. But there’s nowhere else they’d rather be. That settled, Lexie has some questions about everything she’s missed — particularly the DiMera kidnappings!
That only lasts a hot second, though, before she launches into the real surprise: How proud she is of Theo being the DiMera CEO! She’s actually shocked that he stepped down for her, since Theo could have made the DiMera name good for once. She wants him to go back. (What in the world is going on here??) But Abe most certainly doesn’t!
Lexie poo-poos his worry, sure Theo can handle the likes of EJ and Kristen, so maybe he should talk to Tony and go back. It is her family, too, after all! “You’re not one of those DiMeras,” Abe tells his wife, then changes the subject to a game night! (Abe, if your blinders were any bigger, you’d be walking into walls.)
Is Gwen’s Life In Danger?
Gwen shows up at Leo’s door with a tantalizing story prospect about her and EJ. In fact, it could be Leo’s “golden egg.” But he can only crack the story if she’s dead. (Ah, so that’s the plan…) EJ’s double crossed her, so she’s returning the favor and wants insurance in case anything happens to her.
Her lawyer has a sealed letter with all the details and he’s to give it to Leo if anything happens to her. In spite of everything, he’s still her truest friend and Gwen knows he’ll follow through no matter what. Leo’s touched but horrified. He’s been through so much loss, he can’t handle losing her (his “chaos twin”), too. “No story or the glory that would come from telling it could ever replace you.”
Is EJ In Trouble?
Dr. Rolf summons an annoyed EJ to give him the bad news: One of the rats died. Again. But he could have died from natural causes! Rolf’s on it, and he feels good about the drug being sound. He’s been using it left and right on their little rat friends and this is the first death.
EJ doesn’t look reassured as he heads up — and finds Paulina waiting for him! “Who you bringing back this time?” EJ just demands to know what she wants and gets an earful about the state medical board censuring him. He’s closer than ever to losing the hospital! And the good news is, Gwen’s lined up to buy it, huzzah! The daggers EJ’s eyes are shooting could kill a rhino.
He calls Gwen over and jumps right into the screaming. She doesn’t flinch: “You stabbed me in the back, and now I’m returning the knife. Blade. First.” For all his bluster and fury, Gwen feels good that he’ll be pushed out, and she’ll be brought in. And if he hurts her, she warns, she’s got an insurance policy ready to expose everything he’s done.
What Happened to Destiny?
Xander rushes over to catch Destiny as she falls, and as Sarah works on her. JJ and Javi just happen to walk by at the right moment and launch into action. They take her off on a stretcher as Sarah keeps doing chest compressions. They get to the hospital, but Destiny doesn’t make it.
Sarah’s devastated, and the three guys take time comforting her. JJ tells Sarah that he’s dealt with Destiny as a cop — she’s had drug problems. But Sarah doesn’t think she had any signs of being high. Once the others are gone, Xander checks on Sarah, who’s blaming herself. If she’d done more, Destiny could be alive. She’s sure it wasn’t drugs and she just missed it. Xander gives her a pep talk about how incredible a doctor she is and offers to take her home to rest. (We can see where this is heading!)
In the Show’s Final Moments
Leo spots JJ and Javi in the square as he heads home and says hi. His good mood is shattered a bit, though, when JJ casually drops that Gus is joining, too.
Theo heads to bed and Abe and Lexie agree it’s a bit premature to share a bed. As Abe goes to get things ready, Lexie finds Abe and Paulina’s wedding photo and grits her teeth.
Once Gwen’s gone, Rolf comes rushing up. Gwen excitedly texts Xander, but he ignores it as he’s spending quality time with Victoria and Sarah. When he finally looks and she’s inviting him over to celebrate, he declines. “Sorry. Busy.”
