Grave Matters: Remembering the Soap Characters Who Died in 2025

Ronan Malloy, Young & Restless
Date of Death: The August 7, 2025, episode clued us in to the fact that the FBI agent had passed away off screen. When? That went unsaid just like his… Cause of Death: During a contentious phone call with his mother, Billy Abbott was scolded for not even caring that Nina Webster had just lost her only son, Chance Chancellor. And if he was her only son left, that meant that her other one had also at some point died. That, or the show simply forgot that there had ever been a character named Ronan; he had been MIA for more than a decade.

Chance Chancellor, Young & Restless
Date of Death: July 28, 2025. Cause of Death: Genoa City’s only detective really should have RSVP’d “no” to Aristotle Dumas’ coming-out-as-Cane-Ashby party in France. While investigating Damian Kane’s poisoning/stabbing at the endless soiree, Chance became collateral damage as his host’s homicidal right-hand man took a shot at getting away with murder.

Carter, Young & Restless
Date of Death: July 28, 2025. Cause of Death: Not only was the executive assistant’s employment terminated, so was Carter himself. Rather than face the music for sending Damian and Chance to their graves, the bespectacled killer fled into his boss’ former maze and died by suicide.

Kenny, Beyond the Gates
Date of Death: July 15, 2025. Cause of Death: Just as Martin Richardson was preparing to tell reporters the story of one dark night two years prior (here’s what happened), coconspirator Bill Hamilton received a text from Det. Marcel Malone with photographic proof that the Congressman’s blackmailer had been, er, silenced.

Damian Kane, Young & Restless
Date of Death: July 14, 2025. Cause of Death: On an awkward stroll with new girlfriend Lily Winters’ former husband Cane Ashby, Nate Hastings’ surprise half brother realized that the whiskey he and his host had been drinking had been poisoned… just in time for a knife to be thrown into Damian’s back!

Luna Nozawa, Bold & Beautiful
Date of Death: July 10, 2025. Cause of Death: The madwoman had already killed two people and shot two more when Liam Spencer turned the tables on her and gunned her down. Following a touch-and-go surgery, Luna’s grandmother Li Nozawa reported that she’d died in recovery. But had she? We didn’t believe it. (Here’s why.)

Cole Howard, Young & Restless
Date of Death: July 3, 2025. Cause of Death: After saying his heartfelt goodbyes to former wife Victoria Newman and their back-from-the-dead daughter Claire Grace, the ranch hand-turned-author succumbed to Legionnaires’ disease.

Natalia Ramirez, General Hospital
Date of Death: July 1, 2025. Cause of Death: Upset that Sonny Corinthos wasn’t going to run away with her to Belize, Jenz Sidwell’s ex-wife mixed herself a lethal cocktail of alcohol and pills, and was found dead in her Metro Court Hotel room. (Here’s why the character was really killed off.)

Colin Atkinson, Young & Restless
Date of Death: The June 23, 2025, episode revealed that Cane Ashby’s opportunistic father had died six months prior. Cause of Death: Colin wasn’t done in by a con gone wrong, as one might have expected. Illness claimed his life — but not before it had changed his perspective to the point that he and Cane were able to make peace.

John Black, Days of Our Lives
Date of Death: June 2, 2025. Cause of Death: The late Drake Hogestyn‘s long-running character died the same way that he lived — as a hero. He succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion while he was trying to score the experimental drug that would potentially restore his dear friend Bo Brady to health.

Deputy Chief Charlie Reid, Chicago P.D.
Date of Death: May 21, 2025. Cause of Death: Sgt. Hank Voight hadn’t just had enough of the blackmailer, he’d had more than enough. But rather than rub out Reid himself, Voight arranged for his nemesis to be murdered by the vengeful son of a felled drug smuggler. What, you had a better plan?

Captain Bobby Nash, 9-1-1
Date of Death: April 17, 2025. Cause of Death: Guess he could only cheat death so many times. Having been exposed to a lethal virus, the 118’s fearless leader nobly sacrificed himself to ensure that colleague Howie “Chimney” Han would take the one available antidote.

Alan Laurent, Young & Restless
Date of Death: April 10, 2025 (or, technically, June 7, 2024). Cause of Death: Nearly a year after we were led to believe that Alan’s evil twin Martin had died in a plunge from a Parisian balcony, we learned that nope, somehow it had been the other way around.

Cyrus Renault, General Hospital
Date of Death: February 20, 2025. Cause of Death: After confessing his many (many!) crimes to Elizabeth Webber — and jabbing Lucky Spencer with a syringe full of digitalis — the madman brought an axe to a gunfight with Dex Heller’s grieving girlfriend Josslyn Jacks and, predictably, lost.

‘Crazy Aunt Jordan’ Howard, Young & Restless
Date of Death: January 24, 2025. Cause of Death: The jig well and truly up, the vengeful madwoman who stole away Victoria Newman and Cole Howard’s daughter when she was but a newborn gulped down a cup of tea laced with a lethal dose of sleeping pills. (Read the show’s farewell to Colleen Zenk.)

Jamie Dutton, Yellowstone
Date of Death: December 15, 2024. Cause of Death: Beth Dutton made good on her promise to avenge her father when, immediately after laying him to rest, she attacked and stabbed her adopted brother, then — with an assist from husband Rip Wheeler — punched his ticket to the train station.

Dex Heller, General Hospital
Date of Death: December 13, 2024. Cause of Death: The rookie cop was recovering nicely from a stab wound when, outta nowhere, he went into cardiac arrest and died, horrifying us along with girlfriend Josslyn Jacks. (Read our exclusive exit interview with Evan Hofer here.)

Colby Mayfield, Yellowstone
Date of Death: December 1, 2024. Cause of Death: When last-nameless Carter found himself cornered in a stall by an especially ornery stud, fellow ranch hand Colby leapt into action to save him — and paid with his life when the horse repeatedly kicked him.

Doug Williams, Days of Our Lives
Date of Death: November 28, 2024. Cause of Death: On Thanksgiving, Doug’s loved ones discovered that the late Bill Hayes’ character had passed away peacefully in his sleep. (Hayes died 10 months earlier.)

Sarah Atwood, Yellowstone
Date of Death: November 24, 2024. Cause of Death: After the death of Governor John Dutton was reclassified as a homicide, the assassins that Sarah hired to remove him from office gunned her down at a stoplight to ensure that she couldn’t incriminate them.

John Dutton, Yellowstone
Date of Death: November 10, 2024. Cause of Death: Son Jamie’s cutthroat Lady Macbeth, Sarah, arranged for the governor to “die by suicide” so as to remove him as an obstacle to Market Equities’ plans to build an airport on his land.

Sam McCall, General Hospital
Date of Death: October 30, 2024. Cause of Death: Dante Falconeri’s newly minted fiancée was doing just fine following the surgery in which she donated part of her liver to his ex, Lulu Spencer. Next thing we knew, Sam had flatlined!

Date of Death: September 26, 2024. Cause of Death: After catching an unstable Sharon Newman in her apartment, Daniel Romalotti’s significant other was killed when push came to shove during the ensuing confrontation. the intruder passed out, and “Crazy Aunt Jordan” Howard emerged from the shadows to execute both Ian Ward’s plan and Heather herself.

John ’Jagger’ Cates, General Hospital
Date of Death: August 30, 2024. Cause of Death: Refusing to get daughter Kristina Davis out of hot water by turning himself in for his life of crime — as if! — Sonny Corinthos shot the federal agent in cold blood. Twice.

Irene/Adela, General Hospital
Date of Death: August 2, 2024. Cause of Death: A misstep during a face-off with Ava Jerome sent Kristina Davis flying out a window of the Metro Court. She survived the splash that she made in the pool below but lost the baby she was carrying for sister Molly Lansing and her partner, TJ Ashford.

Everett Lynch, Days of Our Lives
Date of Death: August 1, 2024. Cause of Death: Merry murderess Connie Vinisky fatally poisoned the erstwhile Bobby Stein for fear that he would sound the alarm that she was running around Salem making one killing after another.

Hollis the Waiter, The Bold and the Beautiful
Date of Death: July 12, 2024. Cause of Death: Luna Nozawa arranged for the handsome Il Giardino server to clock out for good before he could reveal evidence that Bill Spencer wasn’t her Daddy Warbucks, penniless Tom Starr was her father.

Noel/Noelle DiMera, Days of Our Lives
Date of Death: June 26, 2024. Cause of Death: No, don’t blame radioactive grandma Paulina Price for the tragedy. Johnny and Chanel’s pregnancy was never a viable one and, sadly, was always going to result in a miscarriage for the baby that the couple had planned to name after the holiday season in which it was to be born.

Tom Starr, The Bold and the Beautiful
Date of Death: July 1, 2024. Cause of Death: Luna strikes again! She drugged the formerly homeless guy’s drink, causing her supposed dad to overdose rather than allow him to belatedly pass out cigars and shorten her ride on Bill’s gravy train.

Konstantin Meleounis, Days of Our Lives
Date of Death: June 10, 2024. Cause of Death: Once the jig was up for the con artist, so was his number. Xander Kiriakis shot the schemer, sending him from his wedding to Maggie Horton straight to his own funeral.

Martin Laurent, The Young and the Restless
Date of Death: June 7, 2024. Cause of Death: Alan Laurent’s evil twin went over a balcony in Paris while arguing that he was 100-percent sane. Mm-hmm, ’cause nothing says “sane” like pretending to be your sibling rival.

Gregory Chase, General Hospital
Date of Death: May 21, 2024. Cause of Death: At least Chase’s dad got to attend his and Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s wedding before succumbing to Lou Gehrig’s disease and dying in his sleep.

Date of Death: January 31, 2024. Cause of Death: During a struggle with treacherous ex Esme Prince, Trina Robinson’s sweetheart plunged into the River Seine and — mon dieu! — never resurfaced to show off how hot his wet look is.

Esme Prince, General Hospital
Date of Death: January 31, 2024. Cause of Death: Heather Webber’s dastardly daughter belly-flopped into the Seine along with Spencer, thus changing the saying from “We’ll always have Paris” to “Paris will always have us.”

Bobbie Spencer, General Hospital
Date of Death: January 3, 2024. Cause of Death: The beloved General Hospital nurse was said to have passed away peacefully in her sleep while in Amsterdam trying to settle late brother Luke’s affairs.
