It’s been almost three years since we’ve seen Dr. Andre Maddox in Port Charles but his portrayer, Anthony Montgomery, has been busy since leaving General Hospital in April of 2023. And just like many people, he decided to take a vacation over spring break but it hadn’t been the break he expected.

The former ABC soap star posted a few photos on his official Instagram to not only document the start of his trip but to also show his followers what had happened after boarding Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas cruise ship…

“The beginning of Star Trek The Cruise IX started off with a bang, or break,” Montgomery began then went on to explain, “Before we left port, I smashed my right pinky in the door to my stateroom balcony, breaking the tip of my pinky. Doc X-rayed it and said it will heal over time.” After he informed that no surgery would be needed but that it “hurts like hell,” the actor stated, “but ‘the show must go on’ and the party just started so we’re having a blast on the cruise. I’ll make time to be in pain later.”

Talk about a good attitude — and really, seven days relaxing on a cruise ship… What better place to take the time to heal up while still having fun, right?!

The last time we saw Montgomery’s character in Port Charles, Andre had been introduced to Holly, who’d been looking into WSB files on the Cassadines. Though he relayed that nothing could be found on Operation Demeter, Andre did reveal that he’d found the original case files from 40 years ago on the weather machine. And since leaving daytime behind, the actor has turned up on various movies and series and played Brother Elijah on The Family Business from 2020 to 2025.

We hope Montgomery’s break heals up quickly as he continues to have a blast on the cruise.
