Deadliest Catch tragedy: New details on Todd Meadows’ death at sea

The tragic death of Todd Meadows, a rookie deckhand who was filming his first season of Deadliest Catch, is now under investigation.
Per TMZ, the 25-year-old fisherman fell overboard from the vessel Aleutian Lady on Wednesday, February 25, approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. A U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson said watchstanders were notified at 5:05 p.m. local time that Meadows had gone overboard. He was recovered unresponsive about 10 minutes later.
Despite first aid and resuscitation attempts, he could not be revived. The crew transported him to Dutch Harbor, and his body was later received by the Anchorage Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy was performed. The Coast Guard confirmed it is investigating the incident.
In a statement, Discovery Channel told the outlet, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows. This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.”
As the National Enquirer previously reported, Captain Rick Shelford described February 25 as “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady,” adding that Meadows “quickly became family.”
