Hallelujah! Vivian Alamain is Back on DAYS! She’s Diabolical, Devastating and Delicious. And We Can’t Wait!

VIVIAN ALAMAIN IS BACK ON DAYS! LOCK UP THE COFFINS, SEAL THE CRYPTS! WHAT WILL SHE DO NEXT? WE’RE HERE FOR IT!
Louise Sorel returns as the deliciously diabolical Vivian Alamain during the week of January 26 on Days of Our Lives. The five-time Soap Opera Digest Award winner has buried enemies alive, stolen embryos, and married men by tricking them at wedding rehearsals. Salem’s most glamorous grave-digger is back, and honestly? We couldn’t be more thrilled.
The Queen of Chaos Returns to Her Kingdom
Someone alert the Kiriakis family to start locking their coffins. Vivian Alamain is sweeping back into Salem during the week of January 26 on Days of Our Lives, and if history has taught us anything, it’s that this woman treats burial plots like personal storage units.
Louise Sorel originated this iconic role back in 1992, and in the decades since, Vivian has cemented herself as one of daytime television’s most gloriously unhinged villainesses. The word “legendary” was invented for characters like her. Conniving? Check. Flamboyant? Obviously. Vindictive with a side of dark humor? Darling, that’s her BRAND.
For the uninitiated, let’s discuss why Vivian Alamain is the villain we never knew we needed and absolutely cannot live without.
A Brief History of Burying People Alive
In 1993, Vivian committed what might be soap opera’s most iconic crime. She buried Carly Manning alive in a coffin equipped with oxygen, lights, and a walkie-talkie so she could TAUNT her victim from above ground. That’s not just evil. That’s evil with interior decorating skills.
After the deed was done, the Days of Our Lives script called for Vivian to dance a jig on Carly’s grave. Sorel famously told producers that Vivian doesn’t jig. Instead, she improvised a haunting walk around the burial site, plucking flower petals while whispering “She loves me, she loves me not.” Ophelia could NEVER.
But Vivian wasn’t finished with her graveside activities. In 2010, she tried the same trick on Maggie Kiriakis, stuffing her into a sarcophagus originally intended for Victor’s late daughter Isabella. The woman literally moved Isabella’s remains to a pet cemetery to make room. There’s commitment to a scheme, and then there’s Vivian Alamain’s level of dedication.
Embryo Theft and Wedding Crasher Extraordinaire
Vivian’s resume of villainy extends far beyond her burial hobby. In 1994, when she learned Kate Roberts and Victor Kiriakis were using in vitro fertilization, Vivian did what any reasonable soap villainess would do. She stole their embryo and had it implanted into her own uterus.
That’s right. She GESTATED Kate’s baby just to get closer to Victor. Philip Kiriakis was born in February 1995, and Vivian has spent decades reminding everyone that she nurtured him in her womb. The fact that she’s not biologically connected to him is merely a technicality she refuses to acknowledge.
Then came the wedding heist of 1995. When Kate couldn’t make it to Victor’s wedding rehearsal, Vivian stepped in as a substitute and somehow made the rehearsal legally binding. Victor discovered he’d accidentally married the wrong woman. Salem lawyers must have a field day with cases like this.
From Alamania With Love
Here’s a fun piece of Days of Our Lives trivia: the Alamain family hails from Alamania, a fictional European country that sounds suspiciously like the Latin word for Germany. The country has never been properly named onscreen, and the few times it appeared, it looked remarkably like Southern California. We choose not to ask questions.
Vivian Alamain has returned to Salem countless times over three decades, always bringing fresh chaos and impeccable wardrobe choices. Whether she’s shooting people, kidnapping sons, or forging Victor’s will, she does it all with the flair of a woman who knows exactly how fabulous she is.
