EJ Throws Kristen and Xander Under the Bus, and Alex’s Giant Mistake Finally Pushes Stephanie to Pull the Trigger
Picking up from yesterday, EJ and Gabi wrap up their sparring in time to spot Kristen slipping a keycard into Xander’s pocket. EJ chuckles to himself as Gabi’s horrified for Gwen. EJ figured it was an “open situationship,” but Gabi says this is a betrayal of Gwen and Kristen’s friendship.
But Gabi’s not saying a thing: “Not my monkey, not my circus.” (The most important advice in life, ever.) Besides, Gwen will figure it out sooner or later, so Gabi strolls off.
Gwen Lays Out Her Plan
Leo runs into Joy at the Pub as she’s looking for Kelsey’s stuffed animal, while just outside, Gwen’s mood is spoiled by a text from Dimitri promising he’s getting closer to the truth. And when he does, she’s toast! She heads inside and Leo just about crushes her in a relieved hug. She’s still alive!
They sit and Leo worries some more about what EJ’s capable of, so Gwen lays out her plan. She’s buying University Hospital out from under him! She, of course, has no interest in it other than revenge and looking important while the Bradys and Hortons run things. As Leo points out, this also gets her in good with Jack. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows since Dimitri’s taunting her everyday for something she clearly didn’t do and anyway, she has to run!
EJ Rats Out Xander
Back out in the square, Gwen wanders over to EJ where he claims they’re allies and he’s clueless — utterly clueless! — as to why she wants to hurt him! They’re in this together! About that… Gwen warns EJ that if Dimitri gets proof about them kidnapping him, they’re both going down.
Gabi, meanwhile, is chatting up Javi as he’s watching Trey. She spots EJ and Gwen and: “Oh boy…” It’s the right reaction! EJ and Gwen trade accusations until he pulls out the Xander and Kristen affair news. He’s downright gleeful as he tells her to check the Inn for herself and Gwen rushes in.
Can Kristen Salvage This?
Upstairs, Xander winces almost immediately at his elbow, which is fine, because Kristen’s happy to take control for him. Spicey. Their post-bedroom talk turns to their kids and Kristen laments Rachel being in Bayview again. Xander wonders why she can’t just take her out.
As Xander and Kristen are commiserating on how they’d kill anyone who hurts their kids, Gwen starts pounding on the door. Kristen invites her in as if there’s nothing wrong in all the world and claims she and Xander are having a meeting. Of course EJ saw it and ratted them out for something they aren’t doing! What a slut shaming creep.
Gwen buys it hook, line and sinker and sees herself out, telling Xander to call her and… Good Lord, Gwen. Kristen claims that Gwen is her only other friend besides Lani and she almost lost that thanks to EJ. (Not, er, your own actions there, Kristen?)
Alex Makes a Huge Mistake
Alex gets home from a run to find Stephanie waiting for him, back from the wedding we never got to see. They run into each others’ arms and get back to the cutesy, kissing stuff. The wedding was stunning. Beautiful. Out of this world! (Thanks for rubbing it in.)
They do what they do best and start making out until Joy bangs on the door with a crying Kelsey looking for the elephant. Stephanie makes a face and Alex puts on a shirt and they solve the stuffed animal conundrum since it was in the apartment. Alex makes a crack about giving Joy a key for next time, except it’s not a joke. (What the hell, Alex?!)
He gives one to her and is delusional enough to think they’ll get back to the frisky business, but Steph’s suddenly tired and totally pretends she’s not upset about Joy getting a key. It makes sense. Right? Right. Anyway, they should introduce her to Kelsey officially next.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Javi and Gabi gush over each other and his relationship, then part ways, giving EJ the chance to wander over, tell Gabi he did rat out Kristen and Xander and offer to help Gabi forget all about Philip. (Creeper.) She storms off in disgust, which is the right response!
Joy gets to the Pub and finds her phone missing (yeah, not in your car), so she has to run out again, leaving Kelsey with Leo. Javi pushes Trey into the Pub as Leo’s talking happily away to Kelsey. They do some baby bonding, but things get awkward when Leo learns Gus is staying in Salem.
Stephanie lays down for a nap as Alex runs out for errands, which is, of course, when Joy shows up, knocking, gets no response… and lets herself in. Stephanie’s hazy as she sees the handle jiggle, the door open, grabs her gun and fires at a blurry Joy! (So what now? Here’s what we know!)
