Will Nick Newman Be Thrown Behind Bars For A Murder He Didn’t Commit?
Nick Newman just found the murder weapon—but will it be the end of him?
On July 17, The Young and the Restless throws its viewers into the center of a full-blown murder investigation. Damian’s body is barely cold, and already the house of cards is collapsing around Nick Newman. A bloody dagger turns up in his bathroom, and suddenly, the finger of guilt points straight at him.
But if Nick is being framed, then the real question is—who wants him to go down for Damian’s death?
THE DAGGER IN THE DARK
It’s Chance Chancellor who finds it first—the murder weapon, blood-soaked and stashed in the bathroom of Nick’s sleeping car.
Nick is stunned. No, he’s furious. He tells Chance he’s being framed, and without hesitation, he accuses Cane. After all, Cane has motive, means, and the access to plant the knife. Nick believes Cane is orchestrating the entire setup just to redirect the blame.
But that’s not all that’s haunting Nick. He knows someone helped. Cane couldn’t have done it alone. Carter? One of Cane’s other loyal employees? Or maybe someone even closer?
A WOMAN DIVIDED: PHYLLIS TIPS THE BALANCE
Phyllis Summers is never an easy ally. She’s seen Nick earlier that day—clearly agitated—and now she’s faced with a terrible dilemma: Does she protect the man she once loved, or the man who’s helping her survive?
She’s already told Cane she’d choose him if push came to shove. So when Chance starts asking questions, will Phyllis twist the truth just enough to make Nick look guilty? Or worse—will she flat-out betray him?
In this game, the dagger may not be the deadliest weapon. Loyalty is.
LILY OPENS THE FLOODGATES
Then comes Lily Winters, with a new layer of tension.
She recounts a heated argument between Nick and Amanda right before Damian’s death. Nick had stormed off alone, seething with rage—most of it directed at Cane. Lily doesn’t accuse Nick directly, but her words fan the flames. Chance now has emotional motive to weigh, and Nick’s picture isn’t looking so clean anymore.
Was it just rage? Or a prelude to violence?
CANE: THE MAN IN THE SHADOWS
Meanwhile, Cane is playing the perfect poker hand. Calm, deflective, and well-prepared.
He insists he had no time to plant the evidence. After leaving Damian’s body behind, he was either with Phyllis or with Chance. But Nick’s not buying it. He believes Cane used a pawn—maybe Carter, maybe someone else—to do the dirty work for him.
Cane may not have blood on his hands, but does he have it on his conscience?
Or, worse… is he still pulling the strings behind the scenes?
VICTOR NEWMAN STRIKES BACK
One man isn’t buying the story, no matter how much “evidence” stacks up against Nick—Victor Newman.
The moment he hears about the bloody dagger and the rising suspicions, he draws a line in the sand. Victor doesn’t care if Chance is doing his job—he will not allow his son to be thrown to the wolves.
“We protect our own,” he says. And if that means going after Cane, Phyllis, or even Lily—so be it.
Victor has weathered dozens of storms in his time, but nothing as twisted and personal as this. And when Victor moves, the ground shakes.
THE TANGLED ENDGAME
So, who really killed Damian?
Nick is the prime suspect—for now. But the puzzle pieces don’t quite fit. Too many people were moving in the shadows. Too many motives, too many secrets. From the mysterious Carter, to Cane’s questionable alibi, to Phyllis’s possible betrayal—this murder wasn’t impulsive.
It was orchestrated.
But if Damian truly is dead, and the killer’s identity comes to light—will revenge become the next crime on this train of destruction?
Because now, Nate and Holden want answers. And they’re not going to sit idle much longer.
The bloodshed may be over… or it’s only just beginning.
Who do you think framed Nick—Cane, Phyllis, or someone else entirely? Or could Nick be guilty after all?
