Brady shows up at the DiMera house for Rachel, only for Kristen to usher him out and tell him their daughter doesn’t need therapy anymore. It’s not working. The only thing that would help is finding her grandmother.

Brady disagrees — plus he’s in a hurry. Kristen pivots to asking Brady to put in a good word with his uncles for her. Brady turns her down, wanting nothing to do with the power plays or working with her. He sends Kristen to get Rachel.

Sarah Tries Keeping Xander Calm

Sarah comes downstairs to find Xander working from home in the living room again. He’ll be there for the foreseeable future, since he can’t get rid of Philip now — if ever. Sarah gives Xander a massage and tells him if he can’t force Philip out, he can “ease” him out, and convince him to leave on his own.

Xander just wants Philip to suffer after all he did to him. Sarah cautions him not to go down the path of vengeance again — or it could cost him everything. Xander sighs, then tells Sarah that just the sight of Philip “makes me want to kill him.”

Maybe put a pin in that and focus on something positive like little Victoria, Sarah says, which works. She asks him to walk her to the hospital for her next shift.

Belle and Marlena Have a Heart to Heart

Belle walks into her mom’s living room and asks Marlena if there’s any news on John. No, but Paul thinks they’re getting close. They turn to talk about Johnny, with Marlena wishing he can reconcile with Chanel and resolve his feelings with EJ.

As awful as this has all been, Belle says, EJ seems to have made a change for the better. She just hopes it lasts. Marlena wonders for whom — she talked to Sami about Belle’s declaration of love.

Fine, Belle sighs, admitting EJ’s shooting scared her and it finally got her to admit to herself that she does love him. “Yes. Yes, I do love EJ.” Then Susan outed her to EJ and they talked about it and he felt the same.

“I’m so proud of you,” Marlena says, surprisingly. She’s moving forward, being honest with herself and her mom. Belle asks for advice and Marlena just tells her that all the advice in the world doesn’t matter when it comes to love. But she’ll support Belle no matter what.

A short time later, Marlena spots Brady at the hospital, waiting while Rachel’s in therapy. She encourages him to keep going with it when he mentions Kristen. They’ve both got a lot on their plate, with John missing, but Marlena says all they can do is handle things as they come — and Brady’s doing a great job.

Amy Comforts/Horrifies Sophia

Sophia runs into her mom in the square on the way to work. Amy’s looking for her to find out when the adoption papers are going to be delivered. Never. Johnny doesn’t want to adopt anymore.

Amy’s shocked, but moves quickly to comfort Sophia as she starts to cry. Sophia cautiously mentions finding an adoption agency, but Amy doesn’t want to give the tot to strangers. “Please, mom. Please let us find another family to adopt the baby.”

Amy thinks this is a sign from God that Sophia’s meant to raise the baby. Sophia starts getting upset and gets dizzy. Amy calls for help just as Sarah and Xander walk by, and Sarah — “I’m a doctor” — gets Sophia to the hospital.

Tate Punches Johnny

Johnny’s woken to pounding on the door of his room in the Salem Inn. “Chanel?” He jumps up, gets dressed, opens the door… and gets punched in the face by Tate. “You strung me and Sophia on for months. Not to mention Chanel!”

Tate lays into Johnny about how much he’s screwing with everyone’s lives. He gets crap for his decisions, but, “You’re an adult, this is what you do?!” Johnny admits Tate’s right, but everything changed when he found out about what his dad did to his mind. He can’t risk becoming a parent like him.

Tate sighs and tells Johnny he’s not his father and never will be. He heads out, trying to call Holly to tell her about the adoption, only to get a call from Amy and rush off.

EJ Gives Rita a Task

EJ’s watching the video of Johnny pointing the gun at him. He thinks back to their encounter at Abe and Paulina’s. Rita comes up out of the catacombs, summoned by EJ. Kristen barges in on them with a few cutting words about Rita’s loyalty.

“Find someone else to bully,” EJ snaps. He goes to get pain meds, leaving the ladies alone. Kristen pumps Rita for information about working for the new company — she’s still there. Kristen then moves on to asking if Rita helped EJ get rid of her mother.

Rita denies having anything to do with Rachel’s disappearance, then EJ returns to chase Kristen away. EJ hands Rita the memory card, telling her to hide it where no one will ever find it. “You can count on me. As always.”

Belle Shows Up to See EJ

Brady brings Rachel back and gets into another argument with Kristen, only to be interrupted by Belle coming to see EJ. She tells Brady she’s sorry about the adoption falling through, then heads in to EJ. Brady asks Kristen to keep an extra close eye on Rachel. She’s quiet right now.

Kristen points out her uncle was shot, two grandparents are missing and her parents hate each other. Which is valid. But Brady gets a call from Tate to rush back over to the hospital and leaves.

In the living room, Belle chides EJ for checking himself out of the hospital, then asks for the real reason he wanted to come home. He tells her about the video camera he remembered, then asks point blank if it was Belle. She swears it wasn’t her.

He believes her, but says he’s been blindsided by how much Johnny hates him. Belle insists Johnny will come around with time, and offers to talk to him.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Amy, Marlena, Tate and Brady wait nervously until Sarah brings Sophia out at the hospital, promising them she’s fine. Amy wants her to quit work, despite Sophia’s protests, but Sarah tells her she has to stay in bed rest until she gives birth. School’s fine, but prom’s not possible.

Xander runs into Johnny in the square, wondering what he’s doing there. When Johnny goes off on hating the DiMera name, Xander just squints thoughtfully at him, then apologizes for Titan taking over his company. Johnny shrugs and says he doesn’t care, just don’t let his dad ever get it back.

EJ thanks Belle from the bottom of his heart, then, in the middle of telling her how much he appreciates her, starts knocking out from the medication. He lays on Belle and dreams of the night he was shot. He found the camera, pulled the card out, turned around and saw Johnny pointing the gun. “What are you doing?”

EJ sits up with a start, horrified, but tells Belle he just had a bad dream.
