The Young and the Restless Monday, June 22 Recap: Nikki’s Brain Mass on Optic Nerve, Going Totally Blind
The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Monday, June 22, reveals that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will find out the real source of her headaches and blurred vision, so she’ll have to face a devastating diagnosis.
After an emergency MRI and neurological consult, Nikki will learn she has a brain mass pressing on her optic nerve.
If it’s not successfully treated, it could lead to total blindness.
The doctor will admit that removal is the best course of action, but even the operation itself could lead to blindness.
Nikki will reel over this shocker along with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), who’ll attend her mom’s appointment and offer plenty of support.
In the aftermath, Victoria will convince Nikki to get a second opinion and talk to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) as well, but Nikki won’t think they can deny what they saw on the scans.
It’ll break Nikki’s heart to think about all the wonderful things she might never see again if she indeed goes blind.
However, Victoria will assure Nikki that she’s going to get the best care and will push her to tell Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) what’s going on.
Nikki will shut down that idea since she won’t want Victor’s pity and will think they can handle any treatment arrangements without him.
Meanwhile, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) will try to set a little grandparent love trap by inviting both Victor and Nikki to brunch, but Nikki will decline so she can rest in her room.
Once Victor sees the extra place setting at the GCAC, he’ll call Claire out on her trick.
Victor will assume Nikki didn’t want to come, but Claire will blame her grandmother’s absence on her headaches and blurred vision.
At the Abbott mansion, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will find that Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) has made a huge breakfast spread for the dining room.
Jack will try to escape to the office with just coffee and will lash out when Patty admits she rearranged his schedule so they could spend the morning together.
However, Jack will soften when Patty admits she’s arranged for him to speak with Diane Jenkins Abbott’s (Susan Walters) doctor.
After Jack learns the doc will be there in an hour, he’ll secretly text Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to wait outside and then follow to see if the doctor leads him to Diane.
At Dr. Laurence Markham’s (Jere Burns) house on Monday’s Y&R episode, Diane will try to convince him that she needs fresh air and exercise.
Dr. Burns will offer the basement gym, but he won’t let Diane go outside since she might run away.
Diane will act like she’s glad to be working with Dr. Burns, who’ll be coming around to collaborating in his home like she wants.
Dr. Burns will be eager to start sessions, but he’ll have an important meeting to get to first.
Diane will ask Dr. Burns astrological sign before he goes, so he’ll tell her that his birthday is June 9 and that he’s a Gemini.
After Diane comments on “the twins,” Dr. Burns will suggest he’d like to think he’s one of a kind.
Once Dr. Burns is gone, Diane will try using his birthday as the phone passcode, but she won’t have any luck.
Diane will decide she’ll just have to appeal to Dr. Burns’ ego and use him as her ticket back to her family.
At the Abbott mansion, Dr. Markham will show up and claim he’s there filling in for Diane’s doctor since he had an emergency.
Jack will ask plenty of questions, but Dr. Markham will insist Diane doesn’t want to see Jack or give him her clinic location.
Dr. Markham will push for patience and assure Jack that Patty is sane when Jack questions him about her, too.
Patty will ultimately push Jack to accept that Diane is getting the help she needs and will express her hope to become his new wife.
Once Dr. Markham returns home, Diane will play up how excited she is to be going on this healing journey with him.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Diane has more tricks up her sleeve, so stay tuned.
