The Young and the Restless Monday, June 15 Recap: Diane Hostage by Bribed Psychiatrist, Patty Blackmails Jack

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Monday, June 15, reveals that Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) will find herself stuck in a terrifying situation while Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) backs Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) into a corner.

For starters, Y&R will deliver a sloppy rewrite to try and make the story work with the Beyond the Gates crossover that just played out.

They’ll act like Diane really was taking time for herself up until the Maryland fundraiser, where she put on a show and pretended she was on good terms with Jack.

That said, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will think it seemed like his parents connected during the storm.

Following their return home, Diane went missing again – and Jack will think it’s different this time!

Detective James Burrow (Matt Cohen) will be called over, so he’ll find out Diane’s been missing for a couple days and will question if she’s done something like this before.

Jack and Kyle will hide the fact that Diane indeed has so that Detective Burrow will take their concerns seriously.

Kyle will make it clear that Diane wouldn’t just bail on the division she runs at Jabot.

Jack will also point the finger at Patty, so Detective Burrow will agree to talk to her – though he’ll have to wonder if Diane is staying away due to her separation from Jack.

At the park café, Patty will meet with Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), who’ll assure her that everything went according to plan.

Patty will discreetly hand over an envelope full of money and await proof from Dr. Markham before they begin the next phase.

Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will spot the meeting in progress and think it looks shady, so she’ll call Jack with the news and summon him to the park café, too.

In the meantime, Traci will grill Patty, who’ll claim Dr. Markham was checking up on her since he’s the doctor behind her release.

Once Jack shows up and demands answers about missing Diane, Patty will once again act like his wife bailed on him.

Once Jack and Traci get home, they’ll look up Dr. Markham online and see that he has legit credentials.

Dr. Markham ran the behavioral clinic upstate that Patty was ultimately released from.

After Patty gets the texted proof she needs from Dr. Markham, she’ll head to the Abbott mansion and speak with Jack.

Patty will show Jack a pic of Diane looking sedated in bed and will eventually claim she found Diane after she had a breakdown.

Patty will also claim she reached out to Dr. Markham, who recommended someone to care for Diane and took her to a clinic somewhere.

Jack will flip out and want to see Diane, but Patty will act like it could take years for her to heal – and after that, she won’t be the same woman.

Patty will insist Diane isn’t returning to Jack and will offer herself as a better alternative.

Jack will realize Patty’s trying to blackmail him into a relationship since she’ll play up the fact that Diane’s well-being is in Jack’s hands.

Meanwhile, Diane will wake up disoriented in a house and realize she’s locked in.

At one point, Diane will notice a row full of books on the shelf that were written by Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins).

Diane will also use a letter opener to try and unlock the front door, but then Dr. Markham will come home.

Dr. Markham will tell a story similar to the one Patty told Jack, but there’ll be a few noteworthy differences.

Dr. Markham will claim he found Diane screaming and inconsolable in her car before calling the police.

Once the cops supposedly summoned Jack, Dr. Markham will act like he approved of Diane getting the help she needed.

Diane will insist she didn’t have a breakdown, but Dr. Markham will act like she’s missing her memory of the event.

It’ll be established that Dr. Markham is keeping Diane at his private residence until he can assess her and figure out what’s next.

Diane will push for a real clinic instead since she won’t want to spend another minute stuck in this house.
