Stephanie Reels In the Aftermath of the Shooting, and Amy Tries Enlisting Melinda for Her Revenge

We pick up from yesterday with Stephanie grabbing her gun and shooting Joy in Joy’s general direction. She hits the wall next to the door and Alex comes bursting back home, as Joy tells him her psycho wife tried to shoot her.
Alex spots the gun in the drawer, checks in with Joy, then demands answers from his wife. Joy’s fine, physically, then points at the bullet hole in the wall. “That could have been my head!” (Not with how bad a shot Stephanie was. And it could have been so much worse! See above!)
How Much Trouble Is Stephanie In?
Jada and Shawn stroll through the square, badges and guns on full display. Are they on patrol? He ponders going back home, not wanting to overstay his welcome. (Not like we’ve gotten to see them together.) But then they get to Jada’s and see the bullet hole in the hallway, along with the bullet casing.
They pull their guns, head into Alex and Stephanie’s and… take everyone’s statements. Shawn talks to Joy while Jada takes Stephanie into the bedroom to talk. Alex downplays it (after saying “I’m not trying to downplay this”) by saying it was one bullet in the wall. No big deal! Joy yells at him, but since she’s in no condition to drive, Alex takes her back to get Kelsey.
Stephanie understands now why it’s important to store the gun away from the ammo. (It wasn’t hard to figure out before, Steph.) But yeah, she ignored all safety training, because she didn’t feel safe otherwise. “A part of me thought it was Owen,” breaking in. Jada warns this is super serious and cautions Stephanie to be careful about what she says.
Tate Starts His New Job
Holly and Tate just have a normal hang out in the square and — nope, they immediately talk about Amy wanting and failing to charge Holly. Which, admittedly for them, is normal. The teen declares “this whole Sophia nightmare” over. So it’s not.
Tate, meanwhile, just signed a lease on a new place to start his teaching career and Holly wants to be his first client. They head to his gym (Did Brady give him the money? College students don’t take out leases for businesses, even if they teach at a dojo for *checks notes* a few weeks.) and flirt/train. They’re wrapping up sexy time when Gwen wanders in off the street, looking for self-defense training.
Amy Asks Melinda for Help
Melinda joins Amy at Small Bar, who tearfully apologizes for not listening to her about Sophia. If she had, maybe she wouldn’t have lost her. “What do I do with all this regret?” Melinda understands and shares her own pain in losing Hayley, telling Amy to stop blaming herself.
Fine, but Amy wants Melinda’s legal expertise. Trask cautions the grieving mom that spending all her time fighting this battle against Holly won’t fill the hole in her heart. Amy refuses to give up on Sophia like everyone else. “Help me fight. Help me get justice for my daughter.” Melinda agrees with Belle, though; there’s no case. And that’s why Amy wants to file a civil suit.
Does Gwen Believe Xander?
Leo’s chattering away to Kelsey when Gwen joins him in the Pub. She takes a seat and tells Leo about EJ’s lies. (Except, you know, they weren’t lies.) Gwen’s less sure about Kristen and Xander’s innocence than she let on — but she’s still (barely) buying it.
Leo pokes all the holes in Kristen and Xander’s story, but Gwen still refuses to believe they’re sleeping together or she’d “rip their bloody eyes out and feed them to the birds.” She takes her leave with a cautionary word from Leo to be careful with EJ.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Jada and Shawn reconvene in the living room, with Stephanie relieved they’re taking the gun. Shawn promises to get to the bottom of this and figure out exactly what happened. (Was anyone not clear on that? We all know exactly what happened!)
Joy rushes over to Kelsey as soon as she and Alex get to the Pub and she goes off on psycho Stephanie. Joy doesn’t want Stephanie near her kid ever again. Alex gets home and the cops go back across the hall. Jada worries about arresting her best friend, but these things happen in Salem. (Though they won’t be happening much longer as Elia Cantu just said goodbye to Jada!) And Stephanie and Alex curl up together on the bed.
Gwen saw Tate’s ad already (Is he open? The gym is a mess.) and they’re both excited she’ll be his first paying client. Tate asks some intake questions as she puts gloves on and tells him her goal is “To make sure that EJ DiMera doesn’t murder me.” Well, OK! And Amy stops Holly in the square to warn her this isn’t over.
On the next Days of Our Lives, EJ and Xander get into a sparring match. If you can’t wait for more, check out our preview for Thursday, June 11 for all five soaps!
