Lexie Lets EJ Know How Little Time She Has, and Paulina Makes a Desperate Attempt to Help Chanel
Xander visits Johnny’s office to let him know Titan’s dropping the lawsuit, only to find Theo there instead.
Chanel Isn’t Giving Up
Chanel and Johnny, meanwhile, check in with Sarah after meeting with the new oncologist. The new doc listened and answered Chanel’s questions, so she’s in on chemo! (We couldn’t see that?) Port surgery is tomorrow, then they’re off and running. Johnny promises once this is all over, they’ll have a beautiful life, and heads to work, at Chanel’s insistence.
Theo’s waiting to let Johnny know that he’ll back him up while he goes through this — and give him the good news about Xander: Titan’s dropping the lawsuit!
What Will EJ Do to Amy?
EJ finds Holly crying in the square and learns about Amy and her threats. EJ’s incensed: “I’ll take care of it.” Holly (rightfully) worries about what he’ll do, but he insists everything will be OK. And that’s when Xander grabs EJ by the shoulder and yanks him away!
Holly runs off as the two start fighting over whose family she belongs to (How about neither, fellas?) with Xander warning EJ to stay away. But let’s be honest: The real issue is EJ on ratting Xander out to Gwen, and worrying about him saying something to Sarah! EJ, though, has to run when he gets a text from Lexie.
Back home, Lexie tells EJ the bad news. If they can’t stop this degeneration, she may only have a few weeks of life. He, of course, insists he won’t let this happen, but they’re both definitely shaken. She makes him promise not to tell anyone, then breaks down crying.
Theo Gives Gabi What She Wants
Gabi asks Ari how her internship is going, then stops her when she mentions Grandma Kate asked her to keep her in the loop if anything happened. Gabi knows what that means and warns her daughter to stay the hell out of this mess. But then Theo texts her to join her at DiMera!
When she gets there, he delivers the good news: as Stefano’s will executor, he’s not fighting her claim: “The money’s yours.” Gabi thanks him from the bottom of her heart, but he upends that by telling her that settling now keeps him out of court and away from her. “The less I see you, the happier I will be.”
Sarah Loves Xander
Holly and Sarah meet up for lunch at the Pub and talk over the Amy situation — and EJ’s kinda/sorta ominous promise. When Holly mentions Xander’s reaction, Sarah starts singing his praises for caring, which is a bit surprising for Holly. Sarah admits that she does still love Xander… but there’s no going back.
That’s Ari’s cue to join and, after some commiseration over how bad their summer is starting, Sarah offers them the Horton cabin to have some fun. They’ll invite Aaron and Tate and it’ll be a blast! (So… what’s going to go wrong?)
Can Paulina Help Chanel?
Back home, Chanel gives Paulina the good news: They’ll do some chemo, induce labor early, then treat areas that aren’t recommended while pregnant. But Chanel won’t be able to breast feed and her immune system will be compromised, meaning she may have to keep distance from Trey.
Paulina promises that no matter how dark things get, she’ll make it through. When Johnny gets home, Paulina heads out, looks upset, then seems to hit upon an idea. (Oh, no. If it’s what we think, you’re about to be disappointed…)
Are Kate and Roman Over?
Kate stops Roman mid-sweep outside the Pub to talk. Since Xander’s coming clean about the setup, she has to, too. She tries explaining why she lied to Roman’s face and it does not go well. Why tell him now? Somehow, “Because I was forced to” doesn’t seem like it’ll go well.
And… it doesn’t. Roman knows she would have hid this forever if given the choice. “Dammit, Katie.” Sorry’s not cutting it, so he storms off into the square and calls Marlena to let her know (well, let her voicemail know) that she was right.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Gabi runs into Xander and he’s thrilled to hear her inheritance claim was approved. But she’ll let him know what all she needs from him before it happens.
Paulina rushes over to EJ and tells him to use Dr. Rolf’s miracle drug for Chanel. (Sigh. Knew it.) “I want that drug for my daughter!” EJ seems genuinely sorry to say he can’t help and hurries out of the room, upset. (And you can bet Paulina’s not dropping this!)
Lexie gets to Abe’s and breaks a glass, her hands shaking. Theo comes home as she’s cleaning it up. He can tell something’s wrong, but Lexie insists she’s fine so long as she has him and Abe, tears running down her face.
