Brady and Sarah May Know Who to Blame for Destiny’s Death, and Alex Has to Break Bad News to Stephanie

Stephanie gets to the hospital for her appointment with Marlena, stopping to check in with Kayla. She’s hoping for a miracle that this stays out of the headlines and Kayla, in turn, brings up EJ’s censure and the possibility of Gwen buying the hospital. You know, just an average day in Salem!
Sarah and Holly chat in the hospital before the teens’ weekend getaway and it’s clear Sarah has no idea the boys are going along. Holly mentions her antidepressants and Sarah warns her not to drink because antidepressants and alcohol don’t mix. Kayla joins Sarah to ask about Destiny. Sarah doesn’t know what went wrong, but she’s determined to find out why she died.
How Much Trouble Is Titan In?
Alex looks for Joy at the Pub, only to find Kate — who then muses that Stephanie’s shooting story blowing up in the press could be good for her flailing mystery novel! Alex, shockingly (insert sarcasm here), hates that idea.
Speaking of cutthroat, Alex asks about the lawsuit and Kate admits she set the whole thing up. But she’s got bigger problems. Alex disagrees, pointing out the DiMeras can come after them now, but he has bigger problems, too. (Maybe it’s time to just let Titan fold, folks.)
Outside the Pub, Marlena spots Roman waiting for a delivery as far from Kate as he can. He doesn’t know where they go from here. Marlena hopes they work it out. (But it’s not her problem if they don’t, right, Marlena?)
Party at the Horton Cabin
Aaron and Ari get to the Horton Cabin, where he’s horrified there’s no TV or phone service. But Ari’s got that covered — with alcohol! (Welp. We all see where this is going.) They whip up a screwdriver pitcher by the time Tate and Holly show up and offer drinks, but Holly demurs, just like Aunt Sarah told her to.
They all go for a swim, play some Truth or Dare, pour some more screwdrivers (Being kept in a cupboard? Weird.) and Tate and Holly just start making out in the middle of the room until Ari and Aaron get uncomfortable enough to leave. (Yeah, that’s also weird. No one does that, do they?)
Can Marlena Help Stephanie?
Marlena assures Stephanie at her session that she’s doing everything right and everything she can to feel safe and secure. Steph, though, feels like her judgement is off and it has always been — Jeremy, Ford Decker (If you forgot who he is, we’ve got you covered here!), Everett. Why does she keep making terrible choices?
Marlena suggests Stephanie might have attachment wounds after experiencing abandonment as a kid. It wasn’t intentional, but there was her kidnapping as a baby and Stephanie’s dad being “dead” for 16 years. But Stephanie is brave and loved and she will make it through this.
Alex visits the hospital next, to tell Kayla about Joy’s ultimatum. While they both know Stephanie would never hurt the baby, Kayla understands where Joy’s coming from. But he has to tell Stephanie. Luckily, she’s in a much better frame of mind as she joins her loved ones after her session with Marlena! (Or unluckily. This won’t be pretty.)
How Did Destiny Die?
Brady and Sarah go over Destiny’s bloodwork at the Pub. It was mostly normal, but had low level Coriseal (that’s how closed captioning spelled it, folks, and no, it does not look like a real pain killer), just like her sister had in her body when she died. But it’s not lethal levels.
Sarah’s sure the same thing killed Destiny and her sister. Maybe the drugs were tainted with something they didn’t test for. And if that’s the case, there could be more out there and more victims.
Right now, Sarah’s hoping Liam has answered. Luckily, Brady found them, fast. Liam and his son moved in with Charlie in Brookville — and he seems flush with surprise money. Which, combined with Destiny’s death, is “suspicious as hell.” (Thanks, Gabi.) Brady worries Liam could be dangerous, so he’s going with Sarah to question him.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Marlena brings Kayla some coffee, who thanks her for all her help with Stephanie. Then Kate shows up and ruins the party. She and Marlena head into the doc’s office and it doesn’t take long for the claws to come out. But Kate owns up to screwing up and Marlena responds: “As much as I hate you right now, I must say, I believe you!”
Out in the square, Stephanie tells Alex how relieved she is that Joy’s being so understanding. About that… Alex breaks the news: Joy wants Stephanie far, far away from Kelsey. But they’re going to make it work, and Joy will change her mind! Some day. (Maybe when their kid turns 18.)
Brady starts looking at pharmaceutical companies that make Coriseal and finds one of the generic ones is made by… DiMera Pharmaceuticals.
