Bold & Beautiful Near-Miss Drives Home a Painful Truth: How’d *You* Take It?

With the resolution of its Friday cliffhanger (recapped here), Bold & Beautiful served up horror (Sheila + knife = goosebumps) and comedy (why would she think Taylor was being attacked?). But it delivered something more, too: the sight of Deacon skedaddling from his lover’s bedroom so quickly, he left behind not only his shirt but his lover.

Anything could have happened to Taylor once Deacon’s off-kilter missus kicked her way in. Shouldn’t he have stuck around to take the brunt of her outrage? After all, he’s the one who promised to love, honor and cherish Sheila. He’s the one who was cheating on her.

Is Deacon Worth the Gamble?

As reader Kay Schultz put it, “Well, Deacon wasn’t too worried about Taylor, as he left her just like that… [She] needs to wake up and realize Deacon’s not worth it.”

After this scene, we’re inclined to agree. What kinda chicken-[bleep] move was that? If Deacon so desperately loves Taylor, wouldn’t he have have stayed by her side to ensure her safety? Yeah, yeah, he went home and fretted about it. But he wouldn’t have had to if he’d just mustered up the courage to face his wife and admit that he wants to be with Taylor.

Deacon running out on Taylor was…

Maybe for all that talk about how Deacon has changed and become a good man, he remains at heart the same opportunist that he always was. Sure, he’s not going around trying to sell baby Deke to the Forresters as he did back in the day, and he seems to have given up blackmailing folks and nudging them off the wagon (like he did with Young & Restless’ Nikki). But when the chips are down, he still puts himself and his safety first.
