Beyond the Gates Shocker: Joey Now Knows Who The Impaler Is… and So Do We!
For months now, a mysterious person known only as The Impaler has been turning life Beyond the Gates upside down. The search for him drove Jacob to take on an undercover assignment which necessitated a months-long separation from his wife. Both Ashley’s most recent beau, Grayson, and her ex, Derek, were caught up in plasma ring’s machinations, leaving the latter dead following a shootout.
Even as Jacob was being praised for his efforts, The Impaler remained at large… and our suspect list underwent a few modifications. Garland Memorial Chief of Staff Lia Whitmore was a front-runner until she proved, like Grayson, to be just another lackey.
But we knew the big reveal was coming when Randy called Joey to say that The Impaler wanted to take a face-to-face meeting. Joey has made it clear he doesn’t want this mess to splash over onto his doorstep. But with the newly-opened clinic a target of the plasma ring and Joey being a major investor, that seemed nearly impossible.
For a hot second, we wondered if perhaps one of the Genoa City big wigs who will be crossing over from The Young and the Restless might turn out to be The Impaler, but that seemed about as likely as the show revealing that mild-mannered Ashley was the kingpin. (What a twist that would have been!)
Instead, the episode airing on Friday, June 5 — a recap of which you can read here — revealed that The Impaler is someone Joey knows. They did not, however, show us the person’s face. Instead, as the door to the casino’s backroom swung open, Joey simply looked at The Impaler and uttered one word: “You!”
And in that moment, as the show revealed that Joey knows the person who has been pulling the strings, we understood exactly who he was looking at: the new character set to be played by Ashley Jones (ex-Bridget, Bold & Beautiful).
What makes us think she’s The Impaler? Well, we know the plasma ring’s leader is being fully revealed to the audience on Monday. Thanks to a comment beneath a recent Instagram post, we know that’s the day Jones is expected to begin airing.
We fully admit to having failed algebra, but we’re fairly decent at simple math and even better at connecting the dots. In this case, we’re pretty sure that we’ve done so correctly. In fact, we’ll even go so far as to add a bit of wild speculation by suggesting that Jones will be playing the role of Joey’s sister, Heather.
Fans will recall that not long ago, Vanessa thought it might be a great idea to track down Joey’s sibling. Upon finding out, well, let’s just say he didn’t take the news terribly well. All of which leads us to suspect that he might not be the only member of his family to live life on the dark side!
