As a Tornado Tears Through Martin’s Fundraiser, Dani Gets Stuck in an Elevator With Bill
Vernon and Anita welcome their old friend, Young & Restless’ Jack Abbott and his wife Diane Jenkins to Martin’s fundraiser. Their son, Kyle Abbott, joins them.
Meanwhile, Dani and Andre welcome Devon Winters and his wife, Abby Newman, to the festivities. Even Andre can’t ignore the “vibe” between his wife and Devon, which was obvious the first time Devon visited.
Seizing Opportunities
Bill leaves Hayley to get her own drink refill upon spotting Tomas and Kat. After giving Kat an awkward hug, he reminds Tomas that this is not a social event. It’s a rain-making opportunity. Bill expects a list of contacts to follow up on.
When Eva arrives with Izaiah, a reporter asks her, as Martin’s sister, for a quote. Kat drags Eva away to chastise her when the reporter’s questions get too gossipy.
As Genoa City royalty mingles with Fairmont Crest’s finest, Martin panics when Joey arrives with Vanessa. Ted and Vernon urge the local crime boss to leave, citing bad optics for the candidate. When Vanessa refuses, Nicole negotiates for the duo to stay in the reception area away from the cameras.
Drama Before the Storm
As old friends Kyle and Martin catch up, they receive high-wind alerts on their phones.
After Naomi convinces Ashley to join her, they rush in from the rain. When Naomi goes to find her father, an anxious Ashley encounters Anastasia. The socialite makes snide comments about Ashley’s housekeeper mother and “poor dear Derek.” Dani chases after a fleeing Ashley, bringing her to the empty bridal suite for privacy. After doing her best to comfort her, Dani calls Naomi in for reinforcements.
Back in the ballroom, Tomas awkwardly talks up the law firm’s services to Jack and Diane. The couple makes a quick escape when Kat interrupts.
Leslie Makes the Rounds
Thinking she’s Heather, Joey approaches Leslie, who wears a black cape similar to his sister’s. Leslie goes on to cause a stir with Izaiah and Eva, Ted and Shanice, and Anita and Vernon as they talk with Devon about remastering unreleased Articulletes tracks. Leslie wants to be involved, considering Barbara’s vocals will be added.
Leslie then approaches Diane to find out how she got to live her best society life after faking her death. Diane reflects on showing true remorse. Leslie’s forced smile suggests that might not be the answer she was looking for.
A flirtatious Kyle approaches Hayley with a glass of champagne. When he steps away for refills, Hayley slips off her wedding rings. When he returns, she makes it clear she knows who he is by bringing up one of his past relationships. With the event beginning, Kyle heads for his seat, prompting Hayley to return her rings to her finger.
Emergency Alert
After Victor introduces him, Martin’s speech gets interrupted by news of a tornado watch. He instructs everyone to head to the interior halls, away from doors and windows.
Having left Ashley with Naomi, Dani gets on the elevator with the only other person in there: Bill. The elevator jostles to a stop, causing Dani to stumble into Bill’s arms. Meanwhile, the lights go out in the ballroom, and a light sparks, causing a recoiling Hayley to land in Kyle’s arms.
Martin sends Smitty out of the ballroom with others, opting to stay behind to help usher the rest out. Kat and Eva bicker as they fall in line. The tornado blasts open the side of the country club, sending gusts to tear through the ballroom. The chandelier sways as everyone cowers, including Vernon, Anita, Martin, Jack, Diane, Joey and Vanessa.
