Brady Is Closer Than Ever to Finding the Truth About the Adoption — Plus, Sophia and Tate Have a Near Run In With Their Son!

At the hospital, Cat speaks with Kayla, hoping she can use her as a reference as she’s applying for a job in the cafeteria. Kayla agrees, though thinks she’s overqualified and should look elsewhere for work. Cat claims she wants to be here so she can watch out for her sister.

EJ arrives, and Cat watches an uncomfortable interaction between him and Kayla. EJ was hoping to find out when his office would be ready, and the doctor tells him tomorrow. He walks off, and Cat follows him.

What Does Leo Suspect?

At The Spectator, Leo complains to Chad about all the time wasted on the trial, and he never got his moment to shine and reveal the verdict, all thanks to his twisted sister. He’s at least relieved to be home and back to work. Chad asks Leo if he can cover Kristen’s sentencing. Leo’s not about to miss that show for the world.

Leo admits he found Kristen’s confession a little too convenient. For her to come forward out of guilt isn’t like the DiMera, who isn’t exactly known for her ethics. Chad asks why she’d confess if she didn’t do the crime and would willingly be separated from her daughter.

At the DiMera mansion, Gwen tells EJ that she’s surprised Kristen confessed to shooting him, as it’s not like her to sacrifice her freedom for someone else. Plus there is the fact that Leo revealed the jury was going to find Johnny not guilty, so her confession was pointless. She feels for poor Rachel, having to grow up without her mother.

What Does Kayla Need From Chad?

Chad heads to the hospital to have Kayla sign some forms for the kids’ school check-ups. They chat about his bout with strep and being quarantined with Cat, and he flashes back to their kiss. Kayla then vents to Chad about his brother, and she doesn’t understand why he bought this hospital, as it can’t be for the Versatex drug, which won’t be out of trials for years. Chad says he can nose around for her, but EJ plays his cards close to his chest.

Does Cat Have a Job?

In Horton Square, Cat corners EJ and, having overheard his conversation with Kayla, asks if he’d consider hiring her as his assistant. EJ can’t because he thinks Chad would disapprove of them working together. Cat says Chad will come around, and she needs a job. He asks for a resume, and impressed by the one she hands him, he offers her the job starting tomorrow. She thanks him and calls him boss. He devishly says he likes that.

EJ walks off, and Cat calls Rafe with good news. Not only did she secure a job at the hospital, but she will also be working for EJ.

Tate returns home and talks with his dad about Rachel, who has been sad lately, given the turn of events. The young man suggests he doesn’t have to live at the dorms if his family needs him, but Brady wants him to have the full college experience.

Tate has to get ready for work, and reveals to his father that Sophia’s working at the pub too. Brady knows things are tense between them because of the baby, but Tate thinks she just wants to move on with her life.

Holly Has a Warning for Sophia

Holly heads into The Brady Pub and confronts Sophia, and has issues with her working there, which she thinks is only to be close to Tate.

Holly makes it clear she won’t let Sophia come between her and Tate again. Tate soon arrives and asks what Holly’s doing here? She claims she came to wish him luck on his first day, which he thinks is sweet.

Tate goes to clock in, but before he does, Holly pulls him into a kiss, while giving Sophia the stink eye.

Tate later brings Holly a shake, and as they chat, Sophia interrupts, needing his help bussing tables. Tate gets back to work, and Sophia and Holly give one another snarky looks.

Later, Holly asks if they have signed up for classes, as she’s waitlisted on one and needs a backup. Tate says she should take the film class he’s in, and surprise, Sophia’s taking it too. The instructor has quit, so they are waiting to find out who the new professor will be.  Tate says if Holly signs up, they’ll all be in it together.

Brady and Steve Get a Lead

Brady heads to Steve’s office to see if he has any information on the adoption. Steve doesn’t yet, and says it might help if they could narrow it down to which hospital Sophia gave birth in. Brady doesn’t know, but he has a photo of the adoptive parents. Steve feels he can do a search on them online.

Steve could also use a copy of the birth certificate, but Brady fears asking Tate or Sophia for one would rouse suspicions. There may be another way to get it, though.

They look up the name of the family lawyer that was supposedly used in the adoption, and Brady calls her. It goes to voicemail, so he leaves a message looking for information on an adoption she handled recently.

Steve Asks Kayla for Help

Steve heads to the hospital to discuss a case with Kayla. He asks if she ever treated Sophia while she was pregnant. She did, but can’t talk about it, as he knows. He explains Brady is suspicious that Sophia isn’t telling the truth to Tate about the adoption, and also believes Sarah also knows something she’s not saying. He asks if there is anything Kayla can do.

Can Leo and Gwen Be Friends Again?

Leo runs into Gwen and sees she has shopping bags and snarks that she’s spending all Dimitri’s money. They exchange insults, and Leo claims that had Dimitri not written him that Dear John letter, then he never would have met Javi. Gwen tells him that he and Dimitri are backstabbers and can both rot in hell!

Leo can see that she seems miserable. She asks why it’s his concern? Leo admits he cares about her, and he wishes they could be friends again. Gwen doesn’t, and insists he was never her friend to begin with, given what he did to her.

Leo wonders why she’s staying in town when everyone hates her. Gwen says he’ll find out soon enough, and to enjoy his happiness while it lasts. She then skips off.

Brady arrives at the adoption lawyer’s office…

In the Show’s Final Moments

Gwen returns to the mansion with all her purchases, and EJ offers her a drink. She asks about his day, and he relays that he finally has an office and has hired Cat as his assistant. Gwen says Cat is her new friend, perhaps her only one, given Kristen’s being sent off to make license plates.

In Horton Square, Cat tells Rafe over the phone that she’s in the perfect position to solve everything. Suddenly, Chad appears, and she pretends to be talking to her mom. Chad heard mention she got a new job, and she tells him it’s with EJ.

Chad insists she can’t take the job, as EJ has a way of hurting people even if he doesn’t mean to. Chad offers to get her another job, but she asserts that she can take care of herself. He tells her that he tried to warn her and walks off.

At the pub, Leo walks in pushing the baby in the stroller and asks Sophia and Tate for a table for two. Sophia becomes nervous and turns her back, as Holly dotes over the baby.

Tate can see that the presence of a baby is upsetting Sophia and suggests she take a break. She cries how hard it is to be around babies, and he comforts her. She and Holly again exchange looks as Tate embraces Sophia.

At the hospital, Kayla reports back to Steve after looking into Sophia’s records. She tells him that he’s always been a man with good instincts, and that’s all she can say.

Finally, at the family lawyer’s office, Brady arrives, and she says she just got his voicemail and was about to return the call. He explains he had pressing questions about the adoption she handled for his son, Tate Black. Puzzled, the lawyer asks, “Who?”
