Gabi tracks Doug down at the pub and gives him a piece of her mind. He tries cutting her off at the pass by apologizing before she can say much, but Gabi won’t let it go. He betrayed Ari, her great-grandfather Roman — Doug knows. He wrote a letter to Roman apologizing, asking Gabi to give it to him. As he pulls it out, the necklace is caught on it.
Susan Surprised Johnny — But Not Chanel!
Chanel asks Johnny if there’s any word on Marlena, but nothing yet. But then Susan shows up at their door. She wraps her arms around Johnny and tells him she’s there to make sure her grandson doesn’t go to prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
It turns out, Chanel called Susan to help them find EJ’s real shooter. Psychic powers activate! “Oh.” Johnny says. Was that a good idea? Not everyone buys that and it’s useless in court. Either way, it’s a starting point, Chanel says. And Susan insists they’ll figure it out. She knew Johnny was innocent from the start.
Susan does her thing and starts laughing. No, no, that didn’t work. She needs to let her psychic energy “marinate” and has to run out. Chanel and Johnny just stand, confused as she dashes right out the door. “Bye…” Johnny says.
Johnny admits he was thinking they’d hire a private eye or something. Not rely on his grandmother’s hit or miss psychic visions. They’re desperate, Chanel says. And out of time. OK, fine. What can it hurt, Johnny sighs.
Julie and Gwen Accuse Each Other
Gwen’s dumbfounded to find the necklace gone in her room, but as she tries to leave, Julie waltzes in, serves her papers and tells her she’s being sued. Gwen snaps that she knows she can’t give her the necklace, it’s already gone. Julie demands to know what she means and Gwen just accuses her of stealing it and using this suit to cover her ass.
Julie doesn’t have it, so who does? She storms out and they both threaten to call the police. Gwen leaves the Inn, where she runs right into Doug, realizing after he’s gone that he was the room service guy.
Gwen and Gabi Trade Insults… and Accusations
Gabi pushes Tesoro through the square and can’t help stopping to trade a few insults at Gwen. They go back and forth about Gabi “stealing” Jake from Gwen, Stefan cheating on Gabi, Dimitri betraying Gwen. At least she ended up with his money, Gwen says. Funny how once he got out of prison, he didn’t divorce Gwen or get his money back, Gabi throws back. “Did you kill him?”
As Gabi’s accusing her, Susan pops up behind Gabi to demand the truth from her. “Did. You. Shoot. My. Son?” She remembers seeing that Gabi was at EJ’s the night he was shot, and now she’s confessed to being there.
Gwen watches this all in amusement, and Susan warns Gabi that if she finds out it IS her, she’ll be in a world of trouble. Susan runs off again, and Gwen chuckles at Gabi. “And you accused moi of murder? Talk about projection.”
Gwen needles Gabi, then makes a crack about Stefan running off to his mommy in Alamania. Gabi asks if Gwen ran into her out there, but no. She didn’t. Looks like Dimitri isn’t the only DiMera who’s MIA. They part with mutually disgusted “Go to hells.”
Julie Finally Forgives Doug
Julie gets home, fuming, only for Doug to knock on the door. “What do you want?” Doug tells her he’s leaving Salem, but Julie doesn’t care. Until he pulls the necklace out as a parting gift. Julie’s jaw drops.
She asks where he got it. He stole it. It’s Julie’s, not Gwen’s. Julie says Gwen’s head will explode when she finds out she has it back… but she doesn’t think it’s necessary to tell her Doug did it. He takes the opening to give her a heartfelt apology once more, saying he’ll always regret throwing the love she showed him back in her face.
As he’s about to walk away, Julie stops him and asks if he can help her put on the necklace. He walks in and puts it on so Julie can see herself in the mirror. She starts tearing up, saying she feels closer to her mother and grandmother. Susan turns around and tells Doug to stay right where he is, then goes and grabs her husband’s pocket watch. She goes back and gives it to Doug. “Thank you, this is so kind of you.” Julie tells him that once he gets settled, tell him how much he owes the loan shark and she’ll wire him the money.
She doesn’t want him getting hurt on her conscience. “I know this is what my husband would have wanted.” Doug’s family. He promises to pay her back, but instead Julie tells him to just stay out of trouble. He will. And he’ll make some changes. He promises to keep in touch and check in on how Julie’s doing. Once he gets his life together, Julie asks him to come back to Salem and show her. Doug promises, grabs his bags and leaves.
Marlena’s Loved Ones Rally
Brady and Rachel get to the hospital, where Belle tells them Marlena insists her passing out is not a big deal. Belle reassures Rachel that Grandma Marlena will be just fine. Belle says the judge called a recess until after lunch, so she can take Marlena home. Rachel suggests they go to the gift shop to get something for Tate’s baby, so she and Brady go to find something.
Sarah’s checking Marlena out in a room, saying her blood pressure is a bit high. She’d like to run more tests, though Marlena insists she’s just stressed and exhausted. They head out and Marlena assures Belle she feels fine, and they just ran some more tests. Sarah will let them know when the results are in, so mother and daughter head home.
Rachel and Brady get back to Sarah, sorry to miss Marlena, and Rachel shows Sarah the stuffed animal she got. They tell a stunned Sarah that the baby was born already. It went fine, Brady says, but the baby’s already gone. They didn’t get a chance to meet her.
“Her?” Sarah asks, confused. But she’s just surprised about Sophia being born out of town. Rachel asks if they know what they named her, but no. “I like the name Mackenzie.” Both Sarah and Brady look uncomfortable and Sarah starts to cry, claiming it’s allergies. Brady apologizes after sending Rachel off, saying she remembers Uncle Eric had a Mackenzie.
Or maybe somewhere, deep down, she remembers it was her name, Sarah suggests. She’s emotional since she and Xander decided to separate.
Susan Senses Something In Marlena
Back home, Belle asks Marlena what she thinks about EJ’s session, and if it’s the trauma or identity keeping him from remembering. “I honestly can’t say.” Also, she’s not comfortable talking about her session with EJ. Belle doesn’t press her, then asks her mom if they talk about losing John enough. How much must she be grieving yet?
Marlena says it was a terrible loss for Belle, yet, but her daughter insists they’re talking about her. She knows her mom is stoic, but if she wants to talk about it more, they can. Belle’s there for Marlena.
Susan’s next stop is visiting Marlena and she barges into the apartment, despite Belle trying to tell her it’s not a great time. Susan offers her condolences, going on and on, while Marlena just stands, looking mildly amused, then telling Susan John was very fond of her. Susan hugs hers, then pauses, looking unsettled.
“Dr. Marlena… I just got this weird, weird vibe from you.” There’s trouble in her mind and body and soul. “What kind of trouble,” Marlena asks, but Belle tells her it’s time to go. She escorts Susan out, talking away the whole time. “Goodbye Susan!!” Marlena yells after her.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Chanel decides to pass the time until court restarts with a visit to the bedroom.
Sarah laments how she didn’t break things off with Xander when she learned he tried to hurt Brady. She just ignored all the red flags because she was too in love with him. Brady assures her, he’s the guy to vent to about this. Rachel runs back with some chips, then she and her dad go to their movie. As soon as they’re gone, Sarah checks Sophia’s chart. She knew it. “Sophia’s baby was definitely not a girl.”
Belle gets back from escorting Susan to her car to find her mom asleep on the couch. She’s relieved, but as we pan to the Arabian Nights book, we flash into Marlena dreaming… of being Stefano’s Queen of the Night.
