Kat Finally Decides to Get Tested — Plus, Dani Confronts Bill About Their Secret
Dani bursts into Bill’s office, telling him there are a few things they need to get straight. He makes a few crude remarks, leading her to fear that he’ll find it impossible to resist dropping subtle clues about what happened in that elevator between them. He thinks there was more going on than fear, but she refuses to accept that. “If I was going to die, I could have died with dignity, with Andre and my kids in my heart,” she spits at him. “With them in my thoughts, not you! What we did was selfish! It was not an act of love!”
Bill says that the tornado just sped up the inevitable, leaving Dani to question why he doesn’t get that this could destroy their respective marriage. “What if I don’t care?” he asks. He thinks if the truth came out, he and Hayley could deal with it. Dani isn’t having any of it, says she’s done with him forever. He, however, isn’t so sure. Making sure he understands, she says if he does anything to harm her marriage, “I will never forgive you,” she warns. “There will be no more playing nice in front of the girls. Any shred of peace will be gone. You’ll be dead to me!” In turn, he reminds her that on the day he wed Hayley, Dani said things would never be over between them. She warns Bill against turning her into a reflection of him and finally, he vows to keep their secret, saying he’s hurt her enough.
Kial Scores Big Points
Nicole wakes up to find that Kial is making breakfast. Turns out, he met Tyrell and Samantha — who spent the night at Nicole’s — that morning. She thanks him for being there for her in the wake of the tornado, and for “knowing when to press and when to leave me wanting for more.” Before leaving for work, he says it’s good to have her in the world. No sooner has he left than Carlton calls to suggest Nicole check in with Ted. Shanice, meanwhile, sees that Eva’s crisis is naturally drawing Ted and Leslie closer.
Will Eva Make It Through the Night?
Leslie remains by her daughter’s bedside, telling Izaiah that she refuses to think about any fate other than Eva waking up. Andre becomes the latest person to think Kat is being selfish and possibly seeking revenge, but Ted won’t hear it. “Nicole and I raised her better than that.” He insists Kat simply needs time, the one thing they don’t have much of. Later Shanice tries comforting Ted, who is thinking about all the moments he and Eva didn’t share and might not in the future. Leslie and Ted are told that without a transplant, Eva might not make it to morning. In a quiet moment, Ted apologizes to Leslie for the way he behaved when she’d gotten pregnant all those years ago.
Kat Comes Through
Kat is still avoiding the whole “Eva needs a donor” thing, hiding out at Orphey Gene’s with Chelsea. “This is definitely a your body, your choice moment,” says Chelsea before warning that if Eva dies, the choice will be taken out of her cousin’s hand. Kat shares that she wouldn’t hesitate for a second if Chelsea, Dani or someone else she loved was the person in need. But Eva? “I don’t want to lay down my life for her!” Realizing Kat needs someone to help her make this decision, Chelsea takes her cousin to see Nicole. “I’m not a heartless bitch, but I’m not a forgetful one, either,” Kat says to her mom. Nicole offers sound advice: If Kat needs more time to decide, she should take the test. In the final moments, Kat arrives at the hospital to be tested, while Chelsea warns everyone that this does not mean Kat will actually have the surgery.
