R.I.P., Nikki? Young & Restless Diagnosis Promises to Be Much More Than a Headache!
Nikki is no stranger to health crises on The Young and the Restless. From alcoholism to multiple sclerosis, the Genoa City mainstay has been through the ringer over the years! So when Nikki started getting headaches lately, we kind of figured it was tied to something she already had — like having to deal with the pain of her family drama!
But things are about to get bad enough that spoilers have Victor questioning Nikki about her health on Friday. And despite the timing lining up to her problems with Victor, Nick and all the Matt drama, Melody Thomas Scott told SoapSteph’s Daily Dish that Nikki’s problems go a lot deeper than stress. And as her vision starts to go, it doesn’t sound like it’s the MS, either!
“I’ve never played a character with this new diagnosis that Nikki will receive,” Scott shared, “so I spent more time than usual doing research and prepping. I wanted to make sure my portrayal of Nikki’s experience was as authentic as possible.”
The actress stayed mum on what that diagnosis was, but we do know that it’s going to get serious. In fact, Scott teased, it “will soon get progressively worse to the point where she will be forced to get medical attention.”
As if the Newmans don’t have enough on their plate already! Still, as we’ve witnessed time and again, nothing brings them together like a health crisis — especially when it involves Nikki. And this sounds like it might get scary, because when you’ve got headaches and vision problems, that tends to be something serious and neurological. And in daytime, these things almost always have the potential to be fatal. There wouldn’t be any drama if they didn’t!
Still, this is Nikki we’re talking about here, and we can’t imagine Young & Restless killing her off from some rare disease. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t in for one bumpy ride. And it’s one we’re sure Nikki will only be able to get through with all her family by her side!
