At Last, The Truth Comes Out: Joey’s Sister Is The Impaler!
Picking up where Friday’s episode left off, a cloaked figure enters Joey’s office and we learn his visitor is his long-absent little sister (played by daytime vet Ashley Jones), Heather. They catch up, with her saying she’s currently living in London. He keeps asking about her connection to The Impaler, only to be stunned when she claims to be the baddie! Joey says that everyone knows The Impaler is a man, but she reveals that’s all part of her tactic. If people “want to think he’s a big scary man out of a Bond movie, done!” He finally believes her, only to get upset when she mentions their father. “The world’s a better place without him in it!” barks Joey. We learn that Joey was physically abused and Heather emotionally stunted by their dad, with him thinking she should go find herself a man. Having established that he believes her, Joey asks the big question: Why is Heather there?
Eventually, Heather admits that while her ring is no longer operating in the DMV, she’s got similar situations in many territories. She suggests they work together, as was always perhaps the way it should have been. He doesn’t like handling some of the messier aspects of criminal activities whereas she has no such qualms. But Joey makes it clear he’s not interesting, suggesting that she leave but stay in touch.
Joey Confesses… Kinda Sorta
A stressed-out Vanessa asks Dani to come talk her down. (Nicole, they agree, is lovely but too judgmental!) Dani is surprised by how warm and welcoming (if a tad dark) the apartment is, let alone that Vanessa has been made welcome there. But Dani points out that Vanessa and Joey have created a bubble, with no outside influences. She suggests that integrating Joey into her life might be tough for Vanessa, especially where her children and the danger of his world are concerned. Rather than answer, Vanessa asks Dani to leave. Joey comes home and is surprisingly honest with Vanessa, at least in part, telling her about his sister’s unexpected visit. But he also lies, telling Vanessa that he changed the date and place of his meeting with The Impaler. “It was like finding a part of myself that’s been missing for a long, long time,” he admits. Might he be drawn into Heather’s web?
Eva Denies Leslie’s Request
As plans are being finalized for Martin’s fundraiser, an eavesdropping Leslie hears event planner Megan say that Genoa City big wigs will be in attendance, giving her yet another reason to try and land an invitation. She heads to Eva, who admits to being on the invite list before saying she’s taking Izaiah, not her mama, as her plus-one. Leslie tries to change Eva’s mind, but strikes out, even claiming that she wants to throw some money Martin’s way. Eva offers to get her mom in… if Leslie can name one of Martin’s political platforms she supports. Obviously, she can’t and eventually leaves. But not a woman to be denied, she heads to the club and tells Megan “my face needs to be in that place!”
In Other News…
At Uptown, Jacob and Izaiah get together. Izaiah hopes that Jacob can find peace, which he knows won’t be easy under the circumstances. They also discuss Darlene and her feelings toward Eva, especially given that she’s Leslie’s daughter. “She might be the brightest thing that ever came into my life,” sighs Izaiah, and Jacob suggests he put happiness first. Andre and Ted compare notes on recent developments, with Ted saying he’s ready to go all-in with Shanice if she’ll have him. Later, Ted tells Dani he’ll be taking Shanice to the fundraiser, asking if Nicole will be ok with that.
