‘Beyond the Gates’ Stars In Awe of Working with ‘The Young and the Restless’ Icon Eric Braeden In Upcoming CBS Daytime Crossover Event (Exclusive)
This June, the highly-anticipated crossover that brings cast members and their characters of The Young and the Restless to Beyond the Gates and life in Fairmont Crest is very near. Things will kick into first gear the week of June 8.
In the story, longtime friends Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) reunite for a political campaign fundraiser for Vernon’s grandson, Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon). As it turns out, Vernon and Victor have an alliance built on loyalty, influence and mutual gain.
Also along for the fundraiser is Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), who Martin knew from his college days. Martin also invites Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) to the festivities. Meanwhile, Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) invited Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) to pitch an unexpected business opportunity.
However, the event takes a dark and shocking turn which upends the fundraiser creating shockwaves for everyone in attendance. On Friday, TV Line shared the first look photos from the Y&R and BTG crossover episodes.
Meanwhile, during a recent livestream chat on the Michael Fairman Channel Beyond the Gates stars, Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie, Sean Freeman (Andre Richardson) along with the series executive producer Sheila Ducksworth, shared their reaction of their time working with the cast of Y&R, and in particular with Eric Braeden as the legendary Victor Newman in the upcoming crossover.
WHAT THE BEYOND THE GATES STARS SAID ABOUT THEE VICTOR NEWMAN
Clifton Davis had high praise for what we are about to see, previewing, “Oh, my goodness. We’ve got some dynamite in the can. Dynamite in the can!” Tamara Tunie added, “Victor Newman himself was in the house baby. and he let everybody know it too! It was fantastic. We had a ball with them (cast of Y&R), and they loved being with us. They were embraced in the warmth of what we have in Atlanta and they were like, ‘This is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before and we want to come back.’”
Sean Freeman shared that he got a bit distracted as an actor by the presence of Eric Braeden and his soap alter ego, Victor Newman, recalling, “I was in the middle of one of his scenes, I was taken outta character and somebody beside me popped me and said, ‘Hey, we’re on camera.’ I had to kind of get back to Andre because I was just so mesmerized by the Victor Newman of it all.”
Coming up on the Friday, June 5 episode, official Beyond the Gates spoilers share “Vernon secures the support of his trusted friend Victor Newman for the upcoming fundraiser while Martin prepares for The Abbotts’ arrival. Joey and Randy ready themselves for the face-to-face meeting with The Impaler. Grayson seeks Ashley’s forgiveness.”
