As Abe Continues Dodging Any and All Conflict, Lexie Grills EJ — Plus, Leo Sees Javi’s New Boyfriend
Johnny wakes after a long night up talking with Chanel — she’s been awake all night, terrified. He tries reassuring her that she’ll be OK, but she’s going to stay a realist, especially after doomscrolling all night. She appreciates his support, but he can’t ever, ever tell her that her life is more important than the baby’s.
Johnny just promises that he won’t be in denial, but the important thing is to listen to the doctors. Chanel’s going to have to make the tough decisions, and he’ll respect that. Things calm down and they cuddle, talking over how this all puts life in perspective.
What’s Next for Abe and Paulina?
An excited Abe drops by home to let Theo know that Lexie’s coming home today — and gets the none-too-subtle news that Paulina moved her things out. “So what does this mean?” Abe doesn’t want to think of that yet, but Theo pushes to know if Abe still loves Paulina.
Of course he does! But Abe can tell something else is bothering Theo. Time to change subjects! After some vague explanation of Gabi’s visit (without naming names), Abe comforts his son, saying he’s so proud of him, even though Theo’s feeling down on himself now that he’s unemployed and living at home.
“Take it easy! You don’t have to rush things.” OK, Abe’s starting to sound a little too lackadaisical here… Plus, right now, they need to get the place ready for Lexie!
Is Lexie OK?
EJ visits Lexie and while it starts off pleasant, she’s got questions. He explains everything, but she’s skeptical. “You developed a cure for death and I’m Patient Zero?” (Sounds a lot more ominous that way…) Please. Stefano probably kept her in stasis until she could be revived. Whether she believes or not, EJ’s there to get some bloodwork for Dr. Rolf. Fortunately, Lexie can do it herself, yay!
That done, EJ checks in on how Lexie’s actually feeling, mentally and emotionally. She takes that as an opportunity to bash Paulina and crow about her being done and gone. That’s excellent news! And if Paulina changes her mind, EJ will make her regret it.
Lexie keeps going off on Paulina and even as someone who hates her as much as he does, EJ can’t help but notice how she’s not really the kind sister he remembers. But he is loving seeing this DiMera side of her.
Will Ari Figure Out What Gabi Did?
Ari screams into her pillow after going through her unanswered messages to Liam. Luckily, Gabi’s there to cheer her up! Ari’s not buying it, since Gabi wanted Liam to leave to begin with and he probably ran because Gabi’s an overprotective, crazy mother. Gasp! Gabi?! She badmouths Liam some more, saying he probably pissed off the wrong people. (Technically, he did: Gabi.)
It works, and Ari kicks herself for ever liking the guy. She’s been watching all her friends find love, but she’s been left behind. Gabi knows that feeling all too well, so Ari has to comfort her after losing Philip.
Leo Sees Javi’s New Boyfriend
Leo checks in on how Javi’s doing outside the Pub. Javi’s standoffish, but they get into Sophia, the Chois and losing a child, a pain Javi knows all too well with his own. But when talk turns to saving Trey, Leo gets a little too complimentary and Javi decides it’s time to leave. And meet his boyfriend, Gus! Leo’s aghast that Javi’s dating someone named Gus, and that is definitely Javi’s cue to leave.
He meets Gustavo in the square and admits he ran into Leo. It was super awkward. And it gets even more so when Leo spots the two of them locking lips from the background! He then hears Javi tell Gus that there’s an open position at the station that he could apply to… and Gus saying he will! They celebrate and run off, leaving Leo looking sad in the background.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Gabi brings Ari some fresh-baked bread, and they decide to play hooky and go to a spa together. But Gabi looks all awkward when they hug and Ari says she loves her and can always trust her.
Lexie sets EJ straight, saying that she and Theo are DiMeras and Carvers and she’s going to find the right balance. Sure, sure. EJ heads off. Johnny and Chanel share a few close moments and he finally feels the baby kick for the first time.
