Beyond the Gates Recap May 12: Smitty’s Cover is Blown, Ashley Slaps Grayson, Mike Returns with $40M Threat

In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Joey confronts Smitty, then is tipped off by Elon that Smitty is part of the plasma ring investigation. Ashley slaps Grayson to make their argument look genuine when Lia approaches. Mike Davis returns to shock Bill and Naomi with a $40 million lawsuit threat against Madison.

Beyond the Gates Recap May 12

At Orphey Gene’s, a supposed reporter came in and went after Chelsea and Madison. It got physical with the guy’s phone as he shoved it in their faces, and Chelsea swatted him away. Elon stepped in, but the guy wanted to press charges.

Elon got him to agree to not press charges, but his phone was smashed when it got knocked to the ground. He wanted Chelsea to pay for it, but she said she would buy it from him.

Joey Confronts Smitty

Jacob called Elon and told him that Lia was involved and that, according to his source, she was involved in an embezzlement scam by Lynette Wise and asked him to look into it.

Meanwhile, at the casino, Randy reported to Joey that Smitty spends a lot of time at a motel visiting a guy named Rashad Moore. They both assumed it looked like he was having an affair or making money doing it.

Joey tracked down Smitty at the Atrium and let him know he was onto him.

Smitty said it was a source who needed anonymity, but Joey didn’t buy it. He compared him to Superman who needed to swoop in and help. As soon as Joey started to walk away, Smitty called Jacob to tell him that Joey was tailing him and knew he’d been at the hotel but didn’t know Rashad was Jacob, who noted his disguise really paid off.

Jacob called Elon again and told him that Joey was following Smitty and to do something about it. Elon realized Smitty was his source and blasted him for involving the Duprees.

Ashley’s World Falls Apart

At the hospital, Naomi told Ashley she had to hold it together and not let on that she knew anything, but Ashley felt like her whole world had just fallen apart.

Naomi told her to make sure Lia knew her and Grayson weren’t together anymore and that she’d stay with her. Ashley took on more hours on her already extended overtime shift.

After Naomi left, Grayson came in. At the nurses’ station, Ashley told him she knew about Lia and wanted to know everything. He asked her to keep her voice down as she told him that he wasn’t out, and Lia demanded that he work at the clinic after all.

As she pummeled him with questions, he put his hand on hers and asked her to calm down and keep her voice down. Just then, Lia walked up and saw them.

At Ashley’s insistence, Grayson started to tell her all about the plasma ring, but he noticed Lia glaring. “Hit me,” he told Ashley quietly. He yelled at her to make it seem like they were arguing, and Ashley slapped him.

Lia rushed over, and Ashley told her that she’d told Grayson it was over, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. “That’s enough! Back to the lab!” Lia snapped, so Grayson left.

Ashley Confronts Smitty

Smitty came to the hospital, wanting to “talk to Nicole about cotillion,” but Ashley told him that he’d used that excuse before. He was taken aback when she seemed to be hinting she knew what he was really up to and offered to let him into Nicole’s locked office.

Knowing that Nicole and Carlton had left together and wouldn’t be back, Ashley let Smitty into her office.

Once inside, Ashley tried to get information about everything, but he refused to admit he knew anything. It wasn’t until Ashley mentioned Lia wanting Grayson to work at the clinic that he let his guard down.

Smitty was still tight-lipped but told Ashley that Grayson was a good guy who was helping them.

In the hall, Lia told Grayson that his first shift started at the clinic that night, and that he was to start getting blood immediately to make up for all the lost time lately spent getting him in line.

Mike Davis Returns With a Grudge

In Bill’s office, Mike walked in and told Bill that he used to be his best friend until he thought he was too good for him. Bill reminded Mike how he’d become a liability.

Mike revealed he was representing Hazel Harcourt, the woman suing Madison. Bill called in Naomi, but when she walked in, Mike made an inappropriate comment about her. They all squabbled about the case, and Mike threatened to trash Madison’s reputation and harass her until she settled.

Bill told Mike what he was asking for, so he told him $40 million. They told him it was ridiculous, but he stooped lower with all of the tactics he would use against them. Naomi called it extortion.

After Mike left, Chelsea and Madison came in and told them about the altercation at the diner. They shared about Mike, and assumed it was connected. Madison offered to get a new lawyer but they insisted they were family and would take care of her.

Elon Slips Info to Joey

Elon went to the casino and asked Joey if he was involved in the plasma ring. Joey laughed and said the last time they spoke, Elon told him they were doing an undercover operation on the ring. “Why would I get involved now?” he asked.

Elon didn’t believe him, so Joey pointed out all the people in the casino throwing their money at him. He said he didn’t need a new income source that was under scrutiny or that required refrigeration.

Elon asked why Joey was having Smitty tailed then, tipping off Joey that Smitty was involved in the undercover op of the plasma ring. Elon realized his mistake, snapped to call off his men immediately, and left.

Once alone, Joey called Randy, who was at the hospital, trailing Smitty. Joey told him that Elon had asked but to keep following him anyway.
