Shocker! Young & Restless’ Next Hook-Up May Be the *Last* Two People You’d Ever Expect… and, Boy, Would It Be Messy
Sometimes, on Young & Restless, you just can’t ignore chemistry… or the fact that two people keep being dropped into scenes together. In this case, it seems like a stretch on a number of levels that the folks in question may be headed for a hook-up, and yet we can’t shake the feeling that it’s totally going to happen. What’s more, we kinda hope it does, given how utterly messy it would be!
Victor’s various vendettas have wreaked havoc on more than one family in Genoa City… and have left the Abbotts and Newmans, as is typical, feuding. But two of them in particular have been suddenly throwing down on a semi-regular basis… and it’s an intriguing choice on the part of the writers. Who are we talking about? Why, Victoria and Kyle, of course.
It would make more sense for Young & Restless to have Kyle butting heads with Victoria’s daughter, given that he and Claire were once a couple, yet time after time, he’s landing in confrontations with her headstrong mother. Granted, they’re the offspring of patriarchs Jack and Victor, who are at war, so it’s not surprising they would square off, but we can’t help but feel that there’s more going on here. Our soapy senses are a-tingle.
As we mentioned, it’s hard to ignore that Victoria and Kyle have chemistry. Maybe it’s partly the “forbidden” aspect of her being older, and also being his ex-girlfriend’s mother, but their verbal sparring is starting to give, erm, foreplay vibes. The notion that Kyle might fall into bed with Claire’s mom might give some the ick, but it wouldn’t be the first time this dynamic has played out on soaps… and we’re sure it wouldn’t be the last. Why? It’s pretty darn soapy.
Of course, there’s no actual flirting going on as of yet, but when the writers continually go out of their way to have two characters share scenes, it sets off the radar of seasoned soap fans. More to the point, Kyle’s been pulled from Claire and Audra’s orbits, when it previously appeared as though one of those reunions may be in the cards for him.

Put us down for ‘Team Kyle and Victoria Fling’, not only because it would be messy/soapy, but because it would obviously drive Claire right where we’ve always wanted her — back to the dark side.
