After That Big Young & Restless Explosion, [Spoiler] Is *Said* to Be Dead

Ever since The Young & Restless resurrected Matt Clark, recast with Roger Howarth and turned the villain loose on the Newmans again, he’s been living on borrowed time. And in the Thursday, April 29, episode of the soap (recapped here), it finally ran out — or so we were told.
Who Killed Matt?
As we predicted, the gas-station explosion was much ado about nothing. Nick, Sharon, Adam and Noah all made it out alive. But at the tail end of the hour, we learned what had gone down between Sienna and her ex-husband when we weren’t looking. She showed up at the Newmans’ hotel tattered and torn and announced that she had killed Matt.
Is Matt Really Dead?
Now, do we believe that Sienna really rid the world of Matt Clark? Not for a second. Let’s look at the evidence. First of all, we didn’t see him die. Not that that really matters; we watched him take his last breath when Rick Hearst (Ric, General Hospital) was playing him, and we all know how that worked out!
Second of all, the last time we’d seen Matt and Sienna, she was begging him to run away with her and leave the Newmans alone. Instead, he hit “kaboom” on his handy-dandy cell-phone detonator and blew up the gas station.
In a rage, Sienna could have attacked Matt for obliterating her boyfriend Noah. But as tough as she is, does anyone think she could take her ex? Nah. More likely, he attacked her, she managed to get hold of a gun, and ordered him to run and never look back.
Sienna may think that her threat neutralizes the clear and present danger that Matt represents… that he’s as good as dead, gone for good. She may feel safe telling the Newmans she “killed” him. But he has always been a villain who’s flown by the seat of his pants. He’ll be back; you can bet on it.
There’s a Pattern at Play
The likelihood of Matt only being “dead” in air quotes increases exponentially when you look at the cycle Young & Restless has been repeating for the last few years. Every time it needs to make something happen, it just dusts off another psycho: Jeremy Stark, Ashley’s alters, Crazy Aunt Jordan™, Ian Ward, Cameron Kirsten, Alan Laurent, Patty Williams…
Once Patty has taken her turn driving Genoa City crazy, we’ll bet you any money Matt will turn up again like the bad penny he is.
