Young & Restless Preview: A ‘Horrible’ Twist With Nick’s Addiction Could Land [Spoiler] in Grave Danger

Young & Restless is building toward an encounter in Vegas that could turn dangerous, or even deadly, should Nick’s intensifying drug addiction cause a twist so horrific that he might be scared straight.
Nick was not in a great place before he summoned the drug dealer to his suite in Las Vegas; he’d already scarfed down a baggie of fentanyl, and was in withdrawal as well as in pain. But since the visit, from what we have to assume are Matt Clark’s minions, things have gone from bad to worse.
Adam, amid skirmishes at the poker table and close encounters with Riza, has noticed his brother’s odd behavior, but hasn’t yet clued in that he’s taking drugs… though he did accuse him of hitting the mini-bar too hard, so he’s at least on the right track. Nonetheless, it’s not an ideal state of affairs given their target is finally within spitting distance.
Adam is set for a face-to-face with Matt Clark, who, we’ve learned, is Riza’s new partner. Apparently, she only teams up with men she’s attracted to, because she’s been macking on Matt as well. Frankly, it’s a recipe for disaster given that Clark would consider Adam the enemy even if he wasn’t a Newman.
We all know how dangerous Matt can be, and Adam’s only back up will be the severely compromised version of Nick that keeps passing out in the hotel suite. The scenario going into this meet-up is worrisome to say the least.
As though confirming our worst fears, in a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest dubbed a “preview,” Joshua Morrow teased of Nick, “If, because of this addiction, he did something horrible, that somebody he loved got injured or somebody he really cared about paid for it, that would be rock bottom for him.”
“Did something horrible,” as in leave Adam on his own with no support in a confrontation with Matt Clark?! Egad, we can see the writing on the wall, and it’s not looking good for Spyder. If Nick is on the nod when all hell breaks loose with Matt Clark – who will recognize Adam as the witness to his humilating treatment by Victor at the ranch – the younger Newman could be in grave danger.
Nick’s name would be mud with Sharon and Chelsea if he lets anything happen to Adam, who took a considerable risk in revisiting his dark side, and he’d be upset with himself as well. In fact, the only silver lining would be if the crisis caused him to hit rock bottom and realize how badly he needs help. That said, he won’t be able to shake his dependency in an instant, so where that leaves Adam is anyone’s guess!
