EJ Tries Doing Damage Control, But Has to Resort to Blackmail — And Rafe and Jada Learn That [Spoiler] Is Dead
Jeremy gets home from the hospital to a delighted Julie and tells her he’s not ready to leave Salem, after all. The better to make everyone in town eat crow, Julie cheers. But she admits even she started doubting him. Just for a few moments.
Marlena Talks Leo Through Everything
Leo’s safely in a Salem hospital where they have the proper experience with head trauma and mental issues. He’s still loopy as Kayla tries assessing him, which she tells Marlena about, before bringing her in to talk to him. Leo’s got a Grade 2 concussion, so his emotions are a bit wonky.
Kayla leaves and Marlena talks Leo through his feelings, Dimitri, Javi’s phone call and everything. He’s not sure how he’s feeling about Dimitri. He was a better person with Javi and he’s worried that he’ll lose that without him and if he returns to Dimitri. Marlena reassures him he won’t, promises that he’ll find love again and Leo promptly rolls over and goes to sleep.
Is Cat Falling for EJ?
Cat and Rafe meet in Small Bar — which was shut down just for them because the owner was former FBI? That’s just poor business sense. They decide they need a search warrant for the “secret” room in DiMera mansion to find Dr. Rolf. Rafe calls Jada next to order up that search warrant, and Cat wonders if EJ might have actually not known that Stephanie and Jeremy were in the room.
Rafe warns her not to fall under EJ’s spell but… it might be too late. Cat gets all nervous and admits that she did, er, kiss EJ “as a last resort” to keep him distracted. And while she thought she was making up memories of kissing him in Italy, it may have actually sparked a real memory!
Are Stephanie and Alex OK?
Stephanie’s tossing and turning, dreaming about Jeremy, when she wakes to see EJ standing over her. His apology and promise that he had nothing to do with the kidnapping doesn’t get far as her guard is up big time..
EJ insists he would have rescued them himself if he’d known. (Or ordered their murder. Either way.) Luckily, Alex gets back and tosses EJ out so he can surprise his wife with her ring. Jada pulled it from evidence just for her.
But when he tries putting it back on, Stephanie flinches away. “No!” She’s having a panic attack over the memory of Owen ripping it off and Alex apologizes right away. He offers to get her a new ring, but Stephanie won’t let Owen win. Alex slides the ring on and Steph asks him to get her a latte so she can try collecting herself. As she’s catching her breath, Jeremy shows up, much to Steph’s relief. He’s the only one who knows what she’s been through.
EJ Blackmails Paulina
Rita texts EJ an emergency, so he rushes home and calls Paulina. She needs to stop Jada’s search warrant for the secret room in his house now. Lexie’s down in there and she’s too delicate to move around anymore.
“Call the judge,” Paulina snaps. “Pay him off!” But EJ blackmails her: Do it, or she’s responsible for Lexie’s death. Paulina hangs up in a shock, which is when Abe finds her in the square. She makes up some excuse about the shootout leaving her and everyone rattled, then seems to get a sudden idea and excuses herself to make a call.
Is Cat In Too Deep?
Cat drops in on EJ at the mansion, claiming she got caught up in emotions. She’s not ready for anything. So EJ lets her take the lead — but he’s very attracted to her. But also… Does she have any idea how the police got into the lab?
Cat claims to be clueless, then turns the tables, asking why it was so important no one finds the secret lab. And who was in the pod?? EJ just says it’s “proprietary medical research,” but there’s nothing illegal and Dr. Rolf has nothing to do with it. And this being EJ, of course, means Cat’s interrogation is a turn on.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Rafe is catching up with Jada at the police station when Andrew calls to tell Rafe that a death certificate for Vivian was just filed in Alamainia. As Rafe and Jada dig into the shocking news, a cop tells them the judge refused to sign the warrant for insufficient evidence, which gets cursing all around!
Paulina returns to Abe after shutting the warrant down. She wants to take the day off tomorrow, but Abe wants to spend the day with Lexie. “What?!” It’s their anniversary and he always goes to her grave. (Whew.)
Alex and Kayla catch up as he returns with the coffee. He’s worried the trauma’s pushed him and Stephanie apart. Kayla gently tells him things will get better when Steph gets stronger. Jeremy sits down and Stephanie apologizes again. She knows he’s not the abusive guy anymore, and she couldn’t have gotten through the ordeal or the past couple days without him. Alex hears that as he gets back with the coffee, then walks away.
