As Paulina Holds Lexie’s Life In Her Hands, Days of Our Lives’ Jackée Harry Shares the Moment That Nearly Derailed Her: ‘I Didn’t Freak Out’

We don’t know what, exactly, Days of Our Lives‘ Paulina was expecting when she demanded that EJ show her the lab, but we’re pretty sure it was not seeing her husband’s long dead wife, Lexie sleeping in a green tube! Now she’s stuck between a rock and a hard place. Shut down EJ’s ghoulish and very illegal work and cost Lexie her life, or keep her mouth shut and let it go forward, knowing it could cost her marriage.
Paulina didn’t get to where she is in life by not being able to think on her feet, but for once, she really, truly seems to be at a loss. For the moment, it looks like she’s decided to do nothing. But one way or another, she’s going to have to face the consequences of that.
In fact, we’re betting Jackée Harry is going to have her hands full in the coming months as she navigates Paulina through the minefield that EJ’s just put in front of her! Luckily, she’s a true professional — even if she had a bit of a rocky start on Days of Our Lives!
In the upcoming episode of Soapy, hosted by The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Rebecca Budig (Taylor) and Days of Our Lives‘ own Greg Rikaart (Leo), Harry wasn’t shy about how tough her return to daytime was after more than three decades. Back when Harry was on Another World, filming soap operas was a very different experience.
“My first couple of weeks I was so lost,” Harry laughed of joining Days of Our Lives. “I didn’t know how to read the schedule because it was all over the place.” But fortunately, “Deirdre Hall helped me with that a lot, you know.” Marlena’s longtime portrayer was happy to help the newcomer. Hall read it all out, showed Harry and… “I still didn’t get it!”
The bad news was, “consequently, I missed the scene and they came, they said, ‘This is your scene.’ I was like, ‘What scene?’ It was like 12 pages and I had to do it on the spot!”
But the good news, Harry added, was, “I’m a trained actress, so I didn’t freak out. They were all in awe.” But she was still “mortified, because I didn’t know how to read the soap schedule. It’s different. It’s so different.”
At this point, of course, the actress is a seasoned Days of Our Lives vet, used to the pace and the style of soap operas. And boy that’s going to come in handy as Paulina deals with the fallout of Lexie’s resurrection!
