THE FORRESTER DYNASTY SHATTERED: R.J. RETURNS AS ERIC FLIPS THE SCRIPT!

On the January 15, 2026, episode of The Bold and the Beautiul, R.J. returned to Los Angeles and reunited with Brooke and Ridge, while Eric officially signed on as Katie’s lead designer for Logan.

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

At Forrester, the prodigal son officially returned. After an extended absence, R.J. Forrester finally popped back in to his family’s company. Brooke and Ridge kissed in the showroom, and they were beyond thrilled to see their only shared son back in Los Angeles.

R.J. previously told his parents that he’d be unreachable for the entire month, a lie told to heighten the surprise. Now that he was home, Brooke was hopeful that R.J.’s visit wasn’t temporary. Much to Brooke’s dismay, R.J. couldn’t commit to staying in Los Angeles full-time.

There was nothing pulling R.J. away from home for the foreseeable future, so he couldn’t rule out the possibility of sticking around. One of the driving factors for his return was witnessing his parents’ reunion for himself. Brooke and Ridge were finally married again, and R.J.’s family felt complete.

R.J. recalled the romantic was in which Ridge saved Brooke’s life last year, something that was a key factor in reuniting the couple. He was grateful to his father for saving his mother’s life. Losing Brooke would’ve caused R.J. unimaginable pain.

Ridge didn’t waste any time having his youngest son back home and inquired if he was interested in designing for Forrester. R.J. agreed to think about it, unwilling to step on anyone’s toes. R.J. respected what Thomas and Zende were doing for Hope for the Future, but that wasn’t what Ridge had in mind. Ridge wanted R.J. to join him on the couture, echoing his own past with Eric. ‘

R.J. thought that if that ever came to fruition, it would have been a three generation situation with Eric. R.J. knew that his grandfather didn’t initially walk around on his own terms, but Ridge swore that he pushed him to retire for health reasons. Despite being disappointed that Eric left the company, R.J. looked forward to reuniting with the man who first taught him how to design.

Back at Logan, Katie couldn’t believe her ears. The legendary Eric Forrester was offering to design for her startup fashion house. Katie called him one of the most talented designers of all time, and Eric looked eager to bring his sketches to life.

Katie was thrilled at the possibility, but she couldn’t bring herself to make such a significant request. Eric insisted that he was volunteering for the role, and Katie hadn’t pressured him. However, Katie worried how coming aboard her company would impact his relationship with Brooke and Ridge.

Katie didn’t want anyone to think she poached Eric. Despite her reservations, Eric assured her that this was what he wanted. The idea of launching a new fashion house got Eric’s creative juices flowing, reviving the spark he once had for his craft.

Eric wasn’t at all worried about Brooke and Ridge’s reaction. He believed that his son and daughter-in-law would come around someday. Eric asked Katie if this is what she wanted, and she agreed to bring him on board.

Katie was blown away at the idea of Eric consulting at Logan. For Eric to instead up the ante and position himself as her lead designer was on an entirely different level. In one afternoon, Katie’s fledgling company looked more promising than ever, and for the first time, it resembled a viable threat to Forrester.

Eric joining Logan as the lead designer took a sizable weight off of Katie’s shoulders. Nobody, besides perhaps Ridge, possessed the capability to create gowns that came close to rivaling his. Eric Forrester was officially out of retirement.

Both Eric and Katie realized they needed to handle this delicately with their families. While that was true, Eric didn’t owe an explanation to anyone. Technically he was a free agent, and this was his decision to make.

Still, Katie braced for pushback, namely from Brooke and Ridge. Katie promised to rush Bill into providing Eric with a suitable contract. For now, Eric wasn’t committed to a long-term deal at Logan. A short term contract was best suited for Eric as he first dipped his toes back into the design world.

Eric vowed to provide Katie with designs as soon as possible, which he believed would solidify Logan as a success. Eric defecting from his own company, one that he built from scratch was a game changer for the fashion world. Katie was perfectly positioned to prove Brooke (and Ridge) wrong, and make them eat their words.
